I don't recall if the default installation folder is /Applications or /Applications/Games, but wherever the "World of Warcraft" folder is located, the path 1974ER lists is the same on a Mac (with forward slashes instead of Microsoft's backslashes). Note that "%account%" is whatever your WoW account ...

Re: Server Stats removed after 30 days?
Others have already covered the basics, so I will just reiterate that the purpose of the Server Stats pages is to present the current information about the server. Rollie chose a 30-day window to filter the census information in order to pick up even fairly casual players on a server, while trying t...

Don't worry, big heaping helpings of moardots are up for the taking.
(I had briefly considered also adding gray dots in the background, but decided not to bother.)
To help the OCD-crowd ( :p ), I'll post the "bare" link from the last page again....

Well, I've promoted Version 2.0 to live. New features in this version include some links back here so it's a little more obvious where the data comes from, and the inclusion of the total active Alliance / Horde population. Behind the scenes, I redid how I cache the server information. Instead of jus...

Yes, the information just keeps accumulating, for every character you census on the same account. The only way the file ever "loses" characters is if you <Purge> or use other deliberate options in the add-on to remove old data (or delete the file itself / census on a different computer). For your ex...

Yes, they are both in the same file. That file holds all of your scans at the account level, so the only time you would need to worry about uploading multiple files is if you play characters under more than one account.superxdude wrote:i play horde and alliance...if I scan both sides is it in the same lua file?

If there's an actual list somewhere, I am unaware of it, but if you go to the Census Stats page , choose the server(s) you are interested in, and hit <GO>, you can get the ServerID by looking at the resulting URL. For example, I chose "Aegwynn", and can see that it's ServerID is 595. Regarding my we...

Kosh... I was not thinking of the impact of individual characters as they stay in the database for a long, long time. I was thinking of the effect of cnesuses run / characters seen / etc, on most wanted pages, the individual realm stats pages, etc. Storing (or transferring) a value of 0 takes less ...

However, my main point and reason for asking the question was that I don't have any idea how much more storage space and bandwith such a change would mean. After all, WCR is Rollie's hobby, not something that puts food on the table of his family or pays the bills. That's what has me confused. As no...

and someone discovering that "All" isn't a valid ID :p That would be me  Seriously, even if I were nutty enough to implement "All", would you really want such a page? Don't worry, it's a good test of my input validation. Speaking of validation, the generated pages do validate, amazing...

... Since you have listed: 1% tanks 2% healers 5% melee DPS 10% ranged DPS 82% unknown as your numbers, I am surprised that one intelligent person would assume that another intelligent person would want a search criteria that would draw these results. The method that is used in Hatch's article is c...

Don't worry. I query each page from WR sequentially, so more numbers just take longer. The bigger load would be if multiple people are all querying different (uncached) numbers at the same time. I don't currently impose any limit to the number of serverIDs you can request; the only limits are system...

You're welcome :) Being an "Epic Censi", is it really a "little list", though? I'm glad it's useful to some people. As of when I write this, 29 different server IDs have been viewed (including 1, 2, 3, 4, the example list I give you with no list :) ), so we'll see if more people notice it / st...

Well, I've already got a hit from GoogleBot, which encouraged me to get robots.txt set up for that domain (I have metadata in the page not to cache, etc. it, but of course the page is already loaded by then). To make sure that other spiders (whether well-behaved or not) won't kick off queries when f...

I was thinking about all of those Windows people who can't run scripts, and since it will probably be even longer than Blizzard's definition of Soon? before Rollie implements something like this on the site, I decided to whip up my own web-service. :) Now, I'm not a GUI person, so it isn't "pretty",...

This would not have to be done live in the game at the same time as the "/who" lookup, but it could if programmed to do so. Uh, how? An addon has no way to access anything outside the game, including Armory web pages. Sorry I didn't answer this question. It is clear that Census+ stores the data gat...

@SannaSK, since there aren't any non-ASCII characters in the script, the character encoding shouldn't matter, as long as it's some form of "Western" encoding. It's more likely that you somehow broke the script with your alteration, or broke the line-endings by using a bad editor (I believe Notepad d...
