been gone a long time, have some questions

Post by kenshindono »

i quit about a year and a half ago. im starting up again after xmas and have been reading up on a lot of the changes (man theres a lot) with normalization and talent changes, a lot of stuff has changed

anyway i believe i was lvl 40 with my rogue when i quit, and had alts up various lvls. i was looking at the talent trees and thinking how i wanted to spend my points since i heard they were all returned. Before i was a combat heavy build with quite a few points in assasination, but used a dagger in my main hand

i think this time around i'll use a sword or something in my main hand and be even more combat oriented.

couple questions though:

1)does slice and dice stack with blade fury? If i activated slice and dice and then blade furry would i gain a cumulative speed boost or would blade fury overide slice and dice?

2) are any of the tree's 41 point skills worth it? particularly the combat one? they dont seem that great, it seems id benefit more from putting more in assasination for relentless strikes, to get the energy than going for 41 in combat

3) heres what i was thinking of for my build, hows it look? sugestions are very welcome because like i said ive been gone a long time and am outa touch with a lot of this stuff now. like i said im shooting for a combat oriented build for lvling, preferably soloing, i dont care about pvp... only things im not sure on is what weapon to specialize in.. sword specialization bonus doesn't seem as good as the dagger or mace or fist one. Also one thing i might change is im not sure if i should put those 2 points into imporoved slice and dice or improved eviserate, or 1 in each? what do you guys think?

4) are there finally decent fist weapons in this game? i originally wanted to use them but back when i was playing there were almost none in the game, there were a couple low lvl ones.. then nothing from like lvl 15-50, with the only decent ones being high lvl ones beyond that. Are there more out there or are they still a marginalized item

tnx, help is greatly apreciated, im kinda flying blind after being gone so long

1. Yes, it does stack.

2. None of them 41-point talents are great, I'm planning to get 41-point combat when I reach level 70, but only then, as I don't want to lose out on the assassination talents.

3. Hmm, looks ok to me, but don't bother with weapon specialisation, get your extra 2 points of dodge chance instead. Weapon spec was great when they introduced it but the major advantage of weapon skill (reducing the damage reduction on glancing blows) was removed in the last patch, making it a useless talent. You'll get a lot more benefot from 2% dodge. Beyond that you've got most the same talents that I do!

For me, swords are best, particularly when solo, as you get much higher sinister strikes with them (and don't have to keep gouging to get a backstab in). Also sword spec can crit, so it is really pretty good, 5% chance of extra attacks which are capable of critting is very nice I find. It used to be even better, when at one point it could proc off itself, but it's still very good even now, I like it a lot. As for imp slice and dice or imp eviscerate, down to which you use more - I mostly only use slice and dice on instance bosses myself, eviscerate works better for me otherwise, so I have imp eviscerate, but either is useful :)

4. There's not many fist weapons in the game currently, but more will come soon, I've seen several drops above level 60, and I know that jewelcrafting can make some as well, so once TBC is released there'll be more available.

on the mace/sword thing.. are maces fairly easy to find? i know fist weapons are very hard to find so they're kinda out, but im curious if swords are easier to find than maces or what. Back in the day they seemed more prolific, curious if thats still the case

They seem fairly common, not too sure as I've always been swords, but I know there are some nice maces around too.
