13M updates, 2M new ones and some thoughts...

Well, ladies and gentleman of the board...

Now it's that far, the 13M updates barrier is finally breaking. Technically, it's still 134 updates away, but I just uploaded a rather large file, which, provided it uploads and processes correctly, should push me over with ease.

2M new ones were reached a while ago and some days ago I exceeded Kerebo's result by a million, leaving Balgair alone with less than that to reach me.

On the updates list, the gaps are even larger... There's noone left within 5 million entries... and within 10 million entries, only 7 people remain as Bringoutyourdead is taking a break and fell out of that range on Saturday.

There are also other upcoming changes... Gmmmpresser is close to pushing Kerebo out of the top 3 new ones and Postponer will most likely do the same to Halaster's top 5 slot on the updates list. And Djambo is clawing his way to position 9 on new ones list as Lohan75 has apparently taken a break as well.

As the all time top 10 lists have become fairly static, those occurences will be rather significant.

January is slowly approaching it's end as well. December was marked by various struggles, but as things have settled down, it's nice to see that overall January is going well for us.

Getting into top 10 new ones already requires almost 24k entries... and exactly 100k updates would only secure one a temporary place 8.

Congrats! I still find your numbers utterly mindboggling, I can't keep up at all! Last 2 months I've been too busy playing my main server with the new expansion to look at other servers much, ran a few but mostly been sticking with Draenor Horde only. Guess I'll have to get down to some more censusing soon before you reach double my numbers, you seem to be past double anyone else's already

I have had a bit of spare time on my hands at the moment, so I thought that I would give it a real go.
As Balgair said, I don't know how you do it.
I might just try for #3 new spot....but it takes a bit of work .

@Balgair: Well, actually I still need about 7500 new ones before I double Kerebo's new ones. Also, to exceed your updates figure by more than 100% would already require 15M+ entries and I am barely over 13M... Also, since Gmmmpresser is pressing hard for the number 3 spot on the new one's list, I am actually likely relose the 100%+ more than anyone except you situation shortly after gaining it.

@Gmmmpresser: Some work might indeed be in order, but you are already so close that you'll probably bypass Kerebo in about 8 to 10 days. Especially since you apparently very good at catching new characters. My new to update ratio is about 1:6,5, yours is close to 1:4.

2M new ones broken... nearly 2 years after ER did it

Funny how our ratios are so very different though, he got it around the same time as 13M updates and I'm not even that near 9M yet! I'd assumed we both hit the same kinds of servers, ie ones with almost no coverage, but maybe he hits them more often so gets a higher ratio of updates to new characters seen

Congratulations on the 2M barrier! However, times have changed since January 2011, rather radically even in some respects. My coverage has become more and more static in terms of factions I follow. At the same time, though, it has partially meant that some realms receive more numerous censuses per day... and as I under NORMAL circumstances make multiple uploads a day, a single, quickly leveling character might yield 2, 3, 4 or even 5 updates in a single day.
