New version!

http://www.warcraftrealms.com/censusmod ... us.0.2.zip

This one is more functional. Finally a /census command ;p

Auto-Census should be in place with the option to disable it. Still has a long way to go but I think it's ready to get it out there now.

More updates and site support will be forthcoming!

It is working without problems for me, thanks again.

The only bug i could find was that there was no automatic census allthough it was enabled. It is no problem for me, though, as i prefer to start it manually anyways because of the chatboxspamming.

An option to save census results directly after a census is taken would be nice. As results are not saved if the game crashes, which is still does sometimes.

I don't think there is a way to do that. I know there isn't in WoW, I'll have to research for War!

It works for the curse client. You have to type /wardbupdate and it updates your data instantly. But maybe it only works because you have to run the curse client in the background.

What the curse client does is essentially the same as /reloadui would do in WoW. On a related note it would be interesting if there was any way to get autouploading to work through the curse client for census data since there are quite a few people running it anyway for character profile updates etc...

Ah, if it's just a forced reload, then that would be the same.

It looks like someone has created a site for his/her data from the Dark Crag server:

http://stats.darkcrag.org/

The page looks nice, but I'm not sure if those numbers are based on a in-game census, or if it is just the number of characters found at the realmwar page that Mythic hosts.

Will warcraftrealms.com ever have an upload feature for warhammer data?

Yes, soon. I'm being torn about a 100 different ways but it's one of my top priority items right now.

When I posted yesterday, I was trying to remember the site that I found that listed the total player numbers for all servers. I just found it:

http://www.waralytics.com/warservers/index

Their FAQ says that it draws from profiles at wardb.com and also from the official realmwar site. It really only counts guilded players, so it is probably largely inaccurate.

My old server (Ulthuan) was 29th on the list. We all moved to Red Eye Mountain, which is now 5th.

It lists guilded characters, not a very accurate way of doing things but without actual numbers available from Mythic there are limits to what can be done. Collecting data from the census plugin would allow for rough concurrency numbers and over time would cover most unguilded characters as well I guess but the concurrency numbers are what I feel is most lacking, WAR by it's amusement park design suffers from the same issue WoW does requiring populated servers to keep all the "rides" going and allow people to enjoy the rides on their journey through the game... concurrency numbers at regular play time is very important to how the game plays.

I wish there was a way to purge. Currently on Magnus I have about 6500 showing as a total population over the last month. With Lich King coming out it would be interesting to see the population fluctuations. Right now at prime time we seem to be around 1k+ online which is pretty healthy for scenarios popping non stop.

After looking at my current server most of the unguilded folks are level 10 and below. Out of 7k almost 4.5k is unguilded, and out of that 4.5k almost 3k are level 10 and below. There are only around 75 unguilded 25-40.

I would also like to see the data after WOTLK was released since I want to re-roll onto a higher pop server. The other site don't really allow you to look at trends since the data is taken out of game and mythic doesn't track last login.

I have decided on the Magnus server that I am tracking RANK progression each week. My data is about 7 weeks old now. It shows total chars at almost 9k, but we are lucky to have 300-500 online at one time during primetime. So every week now I will show the current numbers at each level, and than the current numbers at each rank for the current week. I am sure with the two new classes being introduced its gonna really slow down the rank progression on the server. It will be interesting to see if people are progressing or rerolling, or quitting. With each week it should tell if more people are ranking up or not. It seems progression is pretty slow. Just this last week our total for Rank 40 was 68 chars, and a week later its 78. That doesn't seem real promising, but than again the rank grind post 35 sux.

Also the sad facts is that almost 7k of the population is in Tier 1 which means most people are trying out chars, and either deleting them, rerolling a new class, or who knows what else.

Quite a few players came over either from DAOC where they have had end-game characters for years or from WoW where the level progression is considerably faster. My feeling is that a lot of people are somewhat discouraged by the time it takes to level since they are either used to much fasters level progression or it was years since they did it last and they forgot how annoying "the grind" can be. Now the game does have a lot of things to do while levelling but with the population lower and more spread out than the first few weeks it's no longer really possible to do some things (3rd stage of PQ's come to mind) which leaves scenarios... Warhammer needs a high population for levelling to work as intended, collected census data would be extremely helpful for people starting out or rerolling.

Okay Warhammer-ites, first pass is ready for some banging.

Upload your files here:

http://www.warcraftrealms.com/war_upload.php

The update process is still manual while I test so you won't see any results until I run the process.

You can see my preliminary display here:

http://www.warcraftrealms.com/warhammer_census.php

I will be working on this over time as well as expand the functionality.

Please let me know of any snags you find!

Known problems:

- The link to the Warhammer Census Download page is broken as it does not exist just yet.
- Careers are not selectable from the Census display (yet!).
- Servers are added to the database as they are encountered. If your server isn't listed, please submit data for it!

I do have the warrealms.com domain and I will likely be migrating all the Warhammer stuff there eventually, I just wanted to get something up and running here so folks could start playing around with it!

If you have any good ideas for a better display of the census page, then by all means, please do share. I am not sure how to best display the data, although I suppose flat numbers like it is would be fine as well.
