World of Warcraft Europe or United States?

I have been wonder if I should get WoW [EU] or WoW [US].
The rope is that most of my friends live in U.S, and I really want to play with them and I live in EU.
There is no problem with getting U.S account for me when I live in Norway, because my friends in U.S will just buy me one and send me the Key so I can create account.
But some people say that I will get serious high latency and lots of lag if I use U.S servers/realms from Norway (EU). But others say that it?s just shit, and I won?t notice the latency difference and that the game won?t get laggier at all.
So I have been playing the trial of WoW EU, and I got latency around 50 on the server/realm Arathor. And I didn?t notice lag at all. So now I want to tryout the U.S trial, but no one seems to get it. And my friends bought the game before a trial account was added in the game box.
I got Star Wars Galaxies, and there I can use U.S servers or EU servers, and I don?t notice any difference between European servers and United State servers at all.
So is there any big difference? Many people tell me that the U.S servers is much better then the EU servers. That the U.S servers can handle twice the among of players before it get queued and that they can have 30k players on each server before they are considered as full, and the EU servers are consider as full after a population of 15k+.

So is there any big difference between them? Which one should I chose?

I thing that the most importen ting is, that if you like to raid when you turn 60 then go for an EU server or find an US server with an EU guild.

In the old EQ time i was playning on a US server whit an EU guild, and I'm lokatet in Denmark, it is nice cours you dont have the problems whit primetime, curse we get online 7-8 houers befor the rest of the server. just keep that in minde that if you like to raid whit a US guild you will be rading from 24.00 to 07.00. Norwigen time.

The latency is not a problem at all. the rest about the preformenc of the serveres I dont know enyting about. just that an new server normaly is bether then one of the olde one's.

I play from Germany on US servers and I experience very few problems from latency issues. We raid MC/BWL/AQ and so far there hasn't been any problems. My in game latency meter is always around 350-450 ms but I have friends in the states with crappy ISP's and they get the same ping from time to time. The only thing I did notice is sometimes it takes a hair longer for me to zone into instances but that could also be attributed to my PC having to load a lot since I play with almost all settings on high.
