How to make a better guild

I would like to hear ideas on how to "make a better guild". I am interested in features of guild and recommendations on how to keep members happy.

I realize that helping players advance, acquire gear/items, and complete quests will likely be the response above. That covers one area/perspective. The availability of players logged on to group with is naturally another.

I am also interested in hearing about the features offered by a guild that players find valuable. The guild I'm in has a website with a bank, chat, forums, surveys, calendar. We do not have Ventrilo or Teamspeak. This comes up now & again as an interest of some. We host regular instance runs (at least weekly, but usually more often), but seem to always get stuck doing Scarlet Monestary (SM), Gnomer, Uldaman.

From the above, one can gather that we have the bulk of our membership ~ level 40 or less which is true. The needs of lower lvl players is obviously different than those for higher level players. I am looking for features that will address the needs of our lower & higher level guildies at the same time so our guild can sustain the test of time.

I am also interested in hearing how we avoid having lower lvl guildies constantly beg the higher lvls to help them complete things. This seems unfair to both parties.

My thanks in advance.

We actually have a couple of articles in the works talking about forming guilds and keeping them functioning smoothly. I'm sure others will be willing to offer some info now, but be sure to check back to see the articles once published!

Some people in my guild have about 4 or 5 alts at different levels so that if someone in the 30's need help, they would jump on a toon close to that person level and play with them. And if they happened to be playing on a lower level toon they jumped on a higher run to to higher leveled shit.

Don't know if it helps much but seems to be doing good for us.

good guild?

1- I've pretty much stopped random recruiting. I like 'really' knowing the people that I play with, and am more than happy to help them any way I can - including run throughs. I don't like or support doing that for guildies I don't know, especially if they expect that from a guild.

2- Within the month, I try to schedule at least every instance once. (I also have alts at varying levels in order to run different dungeons or quest help)

3- I also want to create a social environment to keep things from getting mundane - parties, scaventure hunts, faire days, etc.

4- Keep the website current! Think this is very important.

5- Work with other guilds in order to fill our groups to avoid the infamous pug of destruction.

6- It's not always possible. But I think consistency in leadership, decision making, communication, and dissemination of information is good also.

We are very small.. 8 users... Smaller than I'd like. but I'm content, I think. to grow slow to maintain quality.
