Zero Entries?

2006-12-18 02:56:02 UNPROCESSED
2006-12-17 00:15:55 0 0
2006-12-16 20:14:35 0 0
Last processed file was uploaded on 2006-12-17 03:22:43.
So these files we're processed but contained NO updates or new entries whatsoever? I scanned my server for a good little bit and uploaded these files, and would expect that i'd hit at least something. What's going on here?

Sometimes they read 0 before they process completely. I'd check back later and see what they show.

The most common reason for that to happen is that you transferred the wrong file, the one you need is
..\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\<accountname>\SavedVariables\CensusPlus.lua
Not the .bak or any file by the same name saved someplace else.
Other reasons for getting zero results is a corrupt file, someone already submitting data for that server, some bug in the processing etc. but by far the most common one is simply transferring the wrong file. I'm sure Rollie will check the logs to make sure nothing is going wrong on the processing side as soon as he is able

Both of those entries only had character data from 12/10. It is very possible that all those characters had already been updated.

The reason I said what I did was that sometimes I'll check my uploads and it will say 0, and then I'll check maybe a half hour later and the real numbers would be up. Happened today, in fact... it said:
2006-12-16 03:35:34 0 0
Then I looked at it a little bit later and it had updated to:
2006-12-16 03:35:34 216 1242
Not that it's a big deal or anything - it always eventually updates to the right number (at least, almost always)

something to keep in mind is that when the client crashes before you log out the character your census(es) won't be saved, lost a lot of them that way, especially now after last patch with a lot of mods being unstable :/

I'll keep all this in mind, thanks.

I always wondered about that... now I know for sure

Ok... What the hell? I always run scans right before uploading, so why is it that every single time I come out with no updates whatsoever? How is that possible? I have yet to be credited a single update.

Well, I looked at your uploads. And the all contain the same thing. I look a little closer and I found your problem.
You are uploading your CensusPlus.lua.bak file, and not the CensusPlus.lua file. You've been uploading the backup file every time.
My bet is that you have file extensions hidden in your options so files only show up as CensusPlus and CensusPlus.lua (hiding the .lua and the .bak respectively).

Well I feel like a dolt.

Thanks for clearing that up, that makes sense. When I get home from work I'll upload the right file this time!
When I go to my SavedVariables, I see:
CensusPlus
CensusPlus.lua
And of course, have been loading CensusPlus.lua and not CensusPlus.

Yep, so you have file extensions hidden in your folder view. I wouldn't be surprised if that is a common mistake. Gonna look into adding a check for that with a notifier.

OK - I was all pumped - I did huge census runs on Monday and was anxious to see the new thousands of entries I had.
I was a little disappointed:
2007-01-01 22:53:39 0 3
2007-01-01 16:16:38 0 25
2007-01-01 01:10:01 246 640
Rollie, since you can look at these, are there something funky with my submissions? Previous results look like:
2006-12-31 19:59:03 301 1181
2006-12-31 00:58:32 825 3077
2006-12-30 00:14:10 724 2752
So at least in 2006 I knew what I was doing.......

Yeah, I'm looking into it all right now, hoping I see some easy problem. Probably going to rerun a few to see if I can see something strange happening.

I now have:
2007-01-01 16:16:38 0 53
So I've doubled!

Processing is about 3-4 days behind right now - they're still going, however.
