US servers

OK, so I'm a rather well-versed cat in WOW terms. I've levelled slews of 60 characters, end-game raided etc etc. Because I've just moved to the US, I've had to give up all my euro characters. I could continue on, but no one's raiding at 4 o clock in the morning.
So, I'm starting with a clean slate. So I was wondering if someone could tell me the names of some servers they know from personal experience to provide solid end-game raiding and a good atmosphere (I do a bit of PvP now and then, so a PvP realm would be nice, but PvE and friendliness are the main criteria). If it matters for balance issues, I'm probably rolling a Draenei Warrior as my main (so no servers with 20%+ warriors please..) A decent history (no ridiculous downtimes, lots of lag etc.) also helps.
Before anyone says anything, I've seen the statistics, but I'm looking for the environmental factors that statistics just can't measure.

Any help is VERY much appreciated.
In advance, thanks a million.

Try rolling on a newer realm is prob the best bet. Most of those guys are people who couldn't take the lag from their older realm and moved over as a char or their whole guild moved. The ones that moved from Silvermoon to Arathor were some decent people and guilds that couldn't take the lag and queues that Silvermoon had at peak raiding times. You should also read the forums on some realms and see how its like there.

Otherwise I really dont have any specific realms for you =(

I'd say you'd enjoy rolling on mal'ganis, but we have a history of server downtime, lag and queues :P It's actually been better as of late, but we do have that history. ;)

So yeah, I guess you can just create a level 1 on a few realms you think might be good and talk to people on that realm. And like DM said, check out the realm forums. Good luck :)

Yeah, check out of the realm forums and the like. You have two real options though, either an established server or a new server.

If you go on an established server you won't be able to experience the AQ event or the Naxx event (though i read that the naxx one is going to be a repeating event, though i don't know for sure), however, many guilds have the legacy end game on farm, and working hard on getting the bc end game there as well, so it'd be easy to gear up your character with them. However, you lose out on the joys of downing a boss for the first time with your raid group.

A new server will be basically the inverse, plus you'll be playing up with people roughly your level, so you won't end up with bored 70's ganking in redridge or astranaar.

But check the realms on here, check their realm forums, then pick one and go. Though a few tips:

Stick with the realms where the side activity ratio is around 1:1 (like 1.2:1 is fine for instance) so there's roughly an even split of characters on.

Check the status to see how often the server is in queue, though I have doubts on how accurate the stats are on here (rollie please clarify), so check the forums as well.

Also look up the realm on wowwiki. Some realms have detailed look at the server, famous events, etc.

While you will always have the ganking guilds, check to see how many are on each side. I'm sure some servers have more than others (though unverified) and can make levelling frustrating.

As always, enjoy the game :)

My word of advice is to stay away from the realm forums. It is all of the bored people at their jobs making hate posts, trolling, or just acting like children. If you really want to get to know your server, just take a look at the general and trade channels. Those realm forums anymore are like walking into a bar and getting punched in the face. You didn't see it coming. haha :|

The queue status here on WR comes directly from Blizzard's site. So it's only as accurate as their site is =x

Yeah, very true. I'd forgotten about the amount of pure filth there :?
