A personal goal reached

Post by Balgair »

Bit quiet round here :P Anyway, last month I wondered if it'd be possible to get enough updates in a month to match some of the overall top contributors list... well, bottom of the top contributors lists:

alia 88,790 alia 571,567

And top of this month's lists:

Balgair 90,937 Balgair 609,905

No doubt Kerebo has done better at some point but it's a nice little personal goal beaten for me ;) Going to aim for 100k new characters this month, can't quite reach 1 million updates; I think that can only be done if I find a month where I don't have a single day off for anything else (I've already lost a couple of days to being out this month and losing this weekend to the same thing) and census non-stop the whole time I'm awake, but 100k new characters should be doable within a few days :)

Congrats =)

I still don't know how you people do it censusing so many servers, I'm hard pressed to cover the 2 that I actually play on!

Grats Balgair! I haven't been playing as much this month so I stepped up the censusing since I can do that while afk... but still don't come anywhere near to how many updates you rack up :P

Hehe I've utterly smashed my previous bests this month, it's having a 2nd account that did it, I leave my laptop censusing on whichever account I'm not playing all the time :)

Think I never got over about half my current totals in a month before now, I'm curious to see just how high I can get now. I think a million might be possible, but it'll take a month without any interruptions, and I know I've got stuff planned for 2-3 days every month for some time in the future sadly, so I doubt I'll ever manage it. Would love to try it though :P

no way someone censuing on US servers to reach same census as someone doing the same amount on euro servers census.

should split lists up actually, give more accurate information.

This Month
Top New Character Contributors

Balgair 101,153

:D

Tbh I don't think being on European servers makes that much difference to me; there are less dedicated censusers on them, yes, so more with 0 submissions to choose from, which will help on the new entries, but I don't census only really low submission servers; I tend to keep the servers until they go green, meaning less updates overall. Plus I could get more updates if I went for high pop servers but I've got quite a lot of low pop ones in my list, because, being low pop, there's no-one else censusing them.

I would be interested to see which of the top contributors are from Europe and which from US servers, but I doubt it makes all that much difference, aside from maybe giving me a wider choice of servers - but then it also kind of leaves me in despair a lot, as no matter how many I census, I can't make our most wanted list look any better; it always has those nasty 0 entries servers on it :(

I could prob tweak my data a bit to try to get separated EU vs US contributions, but as it is right now, not something I can just whip up =/

Congrats on 100k Bal =)

On the contrary, there is a big diff between census on euro and US servers, don't need to do any real research about it more than see how much is uploaded on euro servers, and how much is uploaded on US servers. don't take much math to see that its a big chance that you will get a lot of updates on whatever server you go on, even big chances that nobody have uploaded from that server for weeks. The same for the US servers is quite a lot less, where it can be hard to find servers to census that have not been updated within 24h.

so your thoughts fall on basic statistics there.
