Progression Server

Has there ever been a mention of a possible progression server? Like the EQ progression servers.

I didn't play EQ so I don't have no idea about that. But aside from what is already available there hasn't been any announcement about a new realm type.

they basically start a server thats the exact same as the game was at launch (no expansions) The expansions and patches are added as people unlock them or in a timed manner.

That actually sounds like a lot of fun, but I don't think Blizz has any plans for that.
