Queued!!
Queued!!
Anyone determine by how much Blizzard lowered the caps? Or what the cap is currently on the realms you census or play on the most?
Tonight is worst than last night for Silvermoon.... Last night people were logging in an out at a reasonable rate, now tonight people just aren't logging out!! So what was a 45min queue of 1000 is now turned into a 90min queue of 1000.... The highest I've heard of was 1300 for Silvermoon.
/sigh....

Been hearing about queues of over 1000 on my server too, not met them because I've made very sure to get logged in before busy times, but yeah, we're way overcrowded. Free transfer to a new realm has just gone up for my server, which will hopefully help a bit.
I don't believe Blizz did lower the cap btw, it's just that people are all playing at once - usually a lot of people are fairly casual and just play some of the time, but with new stuff I'd guess everybody's all on at once atm. My server was already queued before WotLK, it just went up a lot with the launch!

Isn't it the best?oiseaux wrote:Mal'ganis has been out of hand. It's been as high as 1600. Needless to say I haven't even attempted to play. It's not THAT good imo. lol
Can't complain too much because I really like mal'ganis. Even with all these free transfers I won't ever leave.

On that same token, there's a reason why I haven't played on Mal'ganis... I tried to log in yesterday and there was a 1700 person queue, with a 250 min wait. Uh yeah, not worth it...
But yeah, I'm never leaving. Ever.

I love mal'ganis! They could offer free transfers to any server and I still wouldn't take it. I actually feel bad for the people taking the free transfer. If they haven't been on other servers they will be very disappointed. Mal'ganis has such a great feel to it and it is always busy even at 5am! Sometimes my sleep schedule gets really messed up and I play at weird hours of the night.
Mal'ganis is used to queues of 400-500 but they were always pretty fast. You never had to wait more than 25 minutes. These 1700+ queues are as xpolockx said, 4 hours long. LOL There is no way I am logging on with those.
Good for Blizzard though. This expansion has been much more successful than I was expecting!

Before BC came out, I remember doing a census on horde and alliance for the same realm, and the sum was around 3000. For example, one would find 1400 characters, and the other would find 1600.
After BC, the sum would usually be 4000. For silvermoon, I think there was usually around 2000 each of horde and alliance. It seemed that Blizzard increased the cap by about 1000.
I haven't done an alliance census recently, but I think horde has generally been 1800 recently (Silvermoon), so I guess that would support the theory that the cap has been decreased, but I don't know why Blizzard would do such a thing.
I've always assumed that the cap was only about 500 more than what you see logged in. Where did you see that the cap was 4500?
edit: my failing memory was off by 500 on every number when I first wrote this. I went back and fixed all the numbers.

They typically will lower caps for the first week or two after the release of an expansion because everyone is in a small area of the game. 4500 players spread out at 70 level in instances, battlegrounds, and cities is different then 4500 people trying to leveling in the two starting wotlk zones. It would be safe to say they lowered the caps by at least 500 (probably more like 1000) for the first week until people get more spread out.
