Equipment level vs. "required level"?

Equipment level vs. "required level"?

I've noticed that equipment (for example, armor) has a listed level, but there is also a required level in order to use the item. What's that all about?

Equipment level is just a way to rate them and give them a value so to speak. Level requirements to wear just dictate what level you must be to use it.
