It's going to be great! :) I'm already liquidating all my mats and junk... just gotta work on getting all professions maxed out. Man this is going to be a pain.

I just wish I could get at least one character to 75+... I keep missing out on things due to insufficient character level... :(

Choose a main AND PLAY IT..

2 months is more than enough to get to 80 (or 78+) before Cata is released..

Most people spend roughly 6 days /played, so get playing and take a break from Census. ;-)

/agree, it's well worth picking a character and exploring zones thoroughly, you'll soon reach max lvl! :) And you'll get an enforced break from censusing soon anyway unless Rollie gets back very soon, since 4.0 will break the addon :(

Erghs... 53 days, 8 hours, 41 minutes, 23 seconds on Trelw... time on level 72, so far: 7 hours, 12 minutes, 21 seconds. Just checked the figures. :/ Also, in light of last month's figures... and this one's as well... Yes, I COULD take a break. However, it would lead to a drop in census figures, one which, while not devastating, would be noticed...

This is not a brag, it's an observation. It's now the 6th. I already have enough new ones this month to put me on 9th spot last month (if I drop myself out) and enough updates to put me 6th place (again, with dropping myself out)... and I haven't even been pushing very hard. I spent hours and hours doing Brewfest quests and other fun things, took breaks to read, solve Sudokus, play Starcraft, go swimming, help my parents with various things, etc...

As to whether the Addon will truly break upon the application of patch 4.0.1, remains to be seen. It's possible as the patch will bring major changes, but I don't think it's guaranteed. However, the Cataclysm itself will cause problems, because Goblins and Worgens would be missing.

Also, we might find out sooner than we would like, as there are several persistant rumours about patch being applied very soon, 13th of this month (next Wednesday) being a common EU date in those rumours.

It will break for sure, since it doesn't work on beta. Not, as in, doesn't recognise new races etc, but, doesn't work full stop. A bunch of coding things have been changed which totally break it, it won't even load without heavy modifcations - I managed to make it load with a LOT of messing around but it won't save the results so... pretty useless! Needs Rollie or at least somebody with a better coding knowledge than me to fix it (granted I don't know much, but it's not like a simple thing to fix anyway)

I haven't gotten a beta invite and now that things are at so late stage, I probably won't either, so I can't comment much except to note that if it was a really simple fix, someone would have already done it. However, that does indeed mean an enforced break, if Rollie isn't able to spend sometime on recoding both the addon and the site. Unfortunately, since many people level up at much higher rates than I do, the holes in character histories will be huge after just a day or two... a week and some 80s will lack all background (when/if) functionality is restored.

Might well also be testable on the PTR, I've not tried it there, but it seems so fundamentally broken on beta that I don't hold hopes for anything better with 4.0.1! It'll be fixable alright, it's not like it relies on features that no longer exist, but it won't just work out of the can with a TOC update, somebody who knows what they're doing will have to fix it (my homemade attempts failed badly ;))

And yeah I don't look forward to seeing how many 0's are on the most wanted list if it's broken for even a week or two. Hoping Rollie will get here and fix it before that!

Well, the thing is... Censusplus has, to my knowledge, never worked on a PTR and despite that, has been functional after a patch was applied to the live realms... which means that the functionality of the Addon isn't directly predictable from PTRs/Betas, unless the patch is known to contain additional elements, which aren't in it, like the upcoming Worgen and Goblins.

EDIT: Removed some typos. :/

Well it certainly worked in the only other beta I've been on, which was TBC. Didn't pick up the new races till it was patched, but worked basically, as in, loaded, recorded datat, etc. It doesn't do that this time and it isn't going to, because, like I said, Blizz have changed the way bits of addon code works. Several things in the current code are obsolete and need updating; I managed to make the thing load through search and replace on the more obvious changes but it still won't record any data, at all. And I really cannot see how it'll magically just work when the patch goes live.

Alright, so the current version is only good for the junkyard. :( And, apparently, no new news from / about Rollie. If the patch goes live on 13th as has been speculated... well, no more census. :( My programming expertise is extremely limited, but I am guessing that a rebuild isn't even possible in just 5 days? Well, actually 4, since US might get the patch on 12th.

Yeah I'd hoped Rollie would get here by now, or that the patch wouldn't be as close as it sounds like it is :? It may not take that long to fix, since I imagine the basic functions will work, it's the way they're expressed or something - I don't really understand it, just that there was no way I was gonna get it working, after spending several hours at it I had something that produced a million lua errors and didn't actually record the data, not really much help. I'm hoping it's simple enough for somebody who understands the code, just I'm not that person, ad it seems none of the other regulars here have any better ideas. Fingers crossed that Rollie gets here soon.

The problem is that Rollie doesn't care for this project anymore..

He can claim that he cares all he want, but his actions tell another story..

I understand people can be busy, but you are NEVER so busy, that you can't find 5 minutes once a week, to pop in and say Hello..
Use a lunch-break.. "Steal" 5 minutes during work... Bring your laptop to the lavatory.. The possibilities are many, if you have the will..

Rollie is being totally disrespectfull, with his lack of attention, to people who spend hours and hours, doing censi FOR HIM..
