Census problem? 6100 Stormrage count

Recent census counted 6100 for Stormrage-US Alliance.
This number can't possibly be correct considering that realm has the highest PvE Ally pop in the US. A few months ago, I was counting 25K+.
True, it isn't counting level 1-19, but there can't possibly be that kind of drop.
Is there a bug with Census+?

Pretty sure, a Census of 25k is a bug..
Unless I'm mistaken, there is a 6K limit of online players per server..

You know, you may be right. Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me.

Yea.. 25k on a realm is too high a number, I think the best Blizzard can handle is in that range of 6-8k per realm before it goes into queue mode.

Highest census I've ever seen is 7.9k, shortly after the pop cap was raised to counter the insane queues - given it was taking well over an hour to complete censuses that long, I'd guess it was more like 7-7.5k online concurrently.
This is on what this website reports as the highest population realm in Europe (none in US show higher), and as that population is 96% Horde, it's probably about the highest possible one-faction population. I doubt any other server could get much higher than that in one census run, I could see a lucky run hitting 8k, but 25k, no chance.

As you noted that 8k wouldn't be the real realm max online capacity.
With the fact that we can not get instant snapshots of Census there is no way for us to know,
we will always miss people who log in and out fairly quickly,
and we will sometimes add multiple characters from a single account as we catch them online.
