Contest prize preference

Post by Rollie »

So I am so pleased with the results of the last contest, that I am planning on running another one very soon! But I would like to work out a few details as well as take your suggestions on how to go about it as well.

First up is dealing with the prize! Either I can continue to give away one big prize, or give multiple smaller prizes.

If you can think of other options, then please feel free to add to the list!

Keep in mind that I want the possibility of a prize going to anyone who enters. But I would also like to possibly grant a separate prize or higher chance to those who contribute regularly.

What kind of suggestions do you have?

I voted.....

I know you want one prize to go to anyone that even gives you 1 submission. I say that prize is less than the one that goes to the top 25. So maybe this prize is worth like $50, and the one who wins the other gets like $150.

For the top 25 contributors maybe add in 1 other requirement that they have a submission every day or at least 20 days out of the month. This way it will guarantee that the census's will be more spread out, and will make the data here more up to date, and valuable. Because currently the TOP 25 has a wide range, and people could still feel cheated if they have 300k at the #1 spot, and the person at #25 has 5k.

Personally I think maybe you should make it the top 5, and not the top 25 because than it will cause more submissions because everyone will be fighting over the top 5 spots, otherwise there is no real competition, and with little effort you can get in the top 25 for the month.

Also I think people need to have a timeframe to enter the contest to be elgible. For example make it that from Oct 5- Oct 10th is signups for the contest. Anyone that doesn't sign up is inelgible for the prizes. I just hate to see someone make a 5k submission the last day of the contest, and win.

Maybe I am being too picky on the contest who knows, but I figured I better at least voice my ideas, and see what others think.

I rather have bigger prizes and more contests :) i'd love an ipod lol! Also not sure if top 5 or 10, as what with school and work, i just don't play wow that often, mainly on my days off if i'm not doing stupid projects(like i should be doing now) :-P So maybe like 1 for random, and then 1 for like top 15? or maybe if they have over 50,000 submissions (that'd be kind of hard at the beginning to see what number works best). But we should have a time frame to enter, that sounds good.

I had to leave halfway writing this, so i lost my train of thought lol

Glad to see we are all in agreement with how we would like prizes to be done =x

Perhaps I'll rotate them between contest periods.

I imagine playtime cards will be prizes in the future. I'd love to be able to give actual in game gold as prizes, but the only way that would be possible would be to go through the gold sellers =/

Please don't do that Rollie. Game time cards are a GREAT idea, and honestly I really like the gift cert idea, i mean if you did it for like amazon you get movies games books music even used books. I can't even begin to tell you how many used books I buy. Since they are a full service site you can games for other formats, guides, toys, accessories and you can offer more smaller prizes that way. Also its so nice to be able to use a gift cert on their site and pay cash for the rest of your purchase.

The iPod was nice but kind of excessive. I would feel bad if you offered such a large prize every month. You have a new addition to your family you need to care for, and trust me they just get more and more and MORE expensive as they get older.
