Suggestion: Auto /who self on level up and guild change

Post by nr33 »

I just downloaded this mod and it's really fun and interesting tool. I have a couple suggestions. I actually don't know if these are in the mod already or if someones already thought of them, but I'll just mention them anyway

Automaticly /who yourself when you level up or change your guild. I see alot of characters that have 5-10 level gaps on their character sheet. This would log level up events better, although only for the character that has the mod running. Unless there's a way to automatically run a /who for people in your party that levels. Or guild. Or, could the mod scan the guild chat for any one that says "ding" and then automaticly runs a /who of that person? Everyone says that when they level. Also, is it possible to run a /who automaticly for someone who joins a guild, gets kicked from a guild, or willingly leaves a guild your in?

Thanks for reading, and I appologize if these have been mention already.

That is actually a nice idea. At least you can have your own profile up to date with all your lvls. Who cares about those not running the mod :p

As for others.... It may be a bit harder than it seems. The wording would have to be a specific string and only that string would be said if someone lvls up. If not then anyone can type "Ding!! Drazen is now lvl 80" and that would mess up the mod and the stats here, since lvl 80 isn't even possible.

I can see your own lvls thing being implemented, hopefully Rollie can get that on his extremely 'long' to-do list

The problem with large gaps in history is due to lack of snapshots for their server, not so much that they are missed when they level up. The only way to correct these types of problems is for to be better coverage across servers.

I find that just running the mod normally picks up all level-ups, the only small gaps in my characters' history are when I level up twice on the same day and don't submit data between level ups, otherwise all of my levelups make it onto the records.

I do like the idea of auto-running /who on level up however, nice feature for people who don't run the mod regularly.

I'm not familiar at all with modding wow or how flagging in game events or chat is handled, but would it be possible to just scan chat's for the string "ding" to appear in any chat? So even if someone did say "Ding!! Drazen is now lvl 80," census+ would run "/who Drazen" and come up with "[Drazen]: Level 34 Gnome Mage - The Badlands." It would completely ignore the lvl 80 in the chat.

On a higher level, this might not be that efficient to impliment anyway. Rollie said that the best way to get better coverage is for more people to use the mod and submit the data. So this wouldn't make a big difference. But it would help a little bit for those that don't run the mod regularly, like what Balgair said.
