Yeah, I'm still tracking this down. I am pretty sure it is an issue with the character set used by either PHP or mysql or both. Might ping you on some issues as I try to get it resolved!

I have actually gotten some updates in Korean and needless to say there wasn't much I could do with it, haha.
I tried using the Alta Vista babelfish translator but you should have seen some of the translations it would give me. They were actually quite humorous! Maybe I should go dig those up and post 'em for posterity =)

Actually, what I am seeing is that they are correct in the text file, but when I read them in, they are not correct, so I am assuming it has to do with what characterset I have set up in PHP. I'm looking into this as I get time and will hopefully find a resolution soon.

even on german, euro-english and Us serveurs, you will find alien guilds / character names... not only french but poles, swedes as well.... that means plenty of accents and strange letters.
So it's probably better to handle all kinds of accents on all serveurs.

Well, I have narrowed this down somewhat. I have found that I CAN read the characters just fine, just not when I read them from the SavedVariables.lua file that is sent to the site. I am still working on it though so keep your fingers crossed!
If any of you have experience working with php and multi-byte characters, I'd greatly appreciate some hints or tips!

Well I figured out how to fix this, the only problem is all the current data I have with bad names and such. I am not sure how to go about updating those and as it is, it will create all new CORRECT entries for those characters/guilds that it finds now.

I am updating guilds and character names to display properly. If you find a guild or character name that is not displayed correctly, please let me know!
