Actually this site is under new ownership.
Due to the significant database interactions it requires some hefty hardware.
I've seen what the monthly billing is for the site.. and it isn't pocket change.
I'm surprised that Rollie could maintain the costs as long as he did.
Metalbeast (website id) who took over, and has twice now rolled the site to faster and larger servers ,
has some interesting ideas on the overhaul of the site presentation..
and yes that does include fixing the many issues.
The advantage we have with Metalbeast is that he is the owner of a not small ISP group here in the USA,
that means when we needed bigger and faster, he was able to quickly find open replacement servers...
(at the cost of making them unavailable for income for the business.)
The disadvantage is that, as the head of his firm, he is often tied up with acquisitions and mergers,
customer development and personal management,
so he often has only a small time each week to devote to the site.
Which is why he agreed to have me take more of a role on the site,
(besides the addon development work I've been doing since before MoP came out.)
Metalbeast as owner of the site has control of how it looks so I can't just start changing things which might negate his work.
I've been working on trying to fix some of the background processing so we can again present valid data. (Guild - GuildRealm issues.
The fact that Blizzard at the last moment changed how they were going to handle Connected Realms threw us for a loop.
Much of the processing has been fixed but since nearly every page you see here is dynamically created,
every page needs updating.
(About the above.. I've said All I am going to say about it.. Metalbeast will make whatever announcement when he is ready.)
And I have had to stop work here....
Warlords of Draenor is around the corner, and CensusPlus addon has my top priority.
Unless Blizzard pulls another fast one at the last minute when they go live (which has happened), we will be ready.
But the grindstone is a bloody mess, and I don't know how long it will be before my nose heals.
