Some hiccups today...

Last processed file was uploaded on 2013-08-29 07:18:16.
Current server time is 2013-08-29 13:04:12

Aug 29, 13 10:11:15 0 0 N
Aug 29, 13 08:57:38 0 0 N

Aug 29, 13 07:41:06 0 0 E

Is it my files causing it to clog up, or is there some other issue going on? My first file today processed fine, and so far as I recall the two which errored out are from different accounts (so totally different files), so I'd hope there's nothing in them causing this :?

I've email Metalbeast..

He or one of his staff might be doing work on the system to prep for 5.4
or something went wrong...

The indicators are that the database engine that drives all the database operations has dropped offline.
Either a software crash.. or parameter change while they work on the database.

If I don't get a response back from Metalbeast by end of work day.. I'll call him to see what the status is.

Thanks, I see there are a few database errors cropping up now so I'll hope it's the database and not my files then! Always worries me when it seems to get stuck on one of my uploads :P

the Beast bites some tires (restarted server)... and we are back in action, it will take awhile for uploads to start processing again... but not too long since this machine is so much faster then the one Rollie had.. but then that one was 5 year old.

Awesome, although it's a good thing I don't tend to purge between files on the same day lol, 3 E's in a row but the last two worked, phew! :)

I was wondering if it was just me,

Dec 05, 13 03:55:19 0 0 Y
Dec 03, 13 21:04:12 0 0 Y
Dec 03, 13 12:31:53 222 656 Y

I have since purged the data and starting again, maybe i did not have to?
Also, the Dec 05 showed at one point as a E, when i looked a little later it was changed to a Y. Maybe that will help somehow.

{lol, i just looked at the date of this thread)

E has a dual meaning....
E first means that is the current file being processed by the site.
if it fails to go to Y and you can see from the db stats page that other files are being processed then E mean it failed processing for some reason.

I on occasion also get 0 0 Y
For me it means that I submitted the same data twice by mistake.
I happen to have 3 active and 1 semi-active WoW accounts and some times I forget which account I was using.

ok, now i understand the E,Y,F system...

For me, I have two wow accounts on one bnet account in win8.
They both use the same CensusPlus.lua file so i can not use the \WTF\Account\%account%\SavedVariables\CensusPlus.lua, instead i have to use /WTF/Accounts/XXX/SavedVariables/CensusPlus.lua

I am not sure that since I actually have two wow accounts writing to the one file if i should be purging, up untill the Dec 03, 13 21:04:12 0 0 Y the file seem to have been working.
The only reason I am not sure if it is working now is simply because when the census updates it tells me it found xx new and xx updated. Course that does not mean there are not others also updating the servers I am on and they already got them in the DB.
Since I am new here i am still in the "trying to understand it" phase.

Ahh, you have two wow accounts? In that case, you should also have two different Censusplus.lua files, one for each account. That would explain why you sometimes have no updates showing, if you always upload the same one; any updates you gather on your other account will not be in that file.

No matter the operating system, WoW's files are laid out the same once you reach the WTF folder, which I can tell from your post you have found.

WTF > Account > {accountname} > SavedVariables > Censusplus.lua

The accountname bit is key; under each of your accounts, there will be a different Censusplus.lua - you'll need to upload both to get the data from both accounts. I have two myself; it's a nuisance to have to remember to do both, but it's the only way it can work - all data is saved by account, and not across all accounts, so it can't be helped.

By the way; when uploading both files, you need to leave a few minutes between them, or the website will only process the second one; the interval used to be 15 minutes, I think it's lower now, but just something to be aware of. I think that was added in due to too many uploads overloading the system or something, years back, can't remember the exact reasoning but I know it's still in place to some extent as I occasionally mess up :)

When i first started to do this, WTF > Account > {accountname} > SavedVariables > Censusplus.lua is the way i tried, I could only find one Censusplus.lua in one account and when i tried to upload it I kept getting the version check error.

When i used the file -> /WTF/Accounts/XXX/SavedVariables/CensusPlus.lua i had no issue. (until the other day)

After reading your reply i looked in both account folders and still only found the one Censusplus.lua file in one account, I did try and upload it and this time it was accepted.

So, summery is,

wtf/account/accountname1/savedvariales/Census.lua gives me a file i can upload

wtf/account/accountname2/savedvariales/Census.lua does not give me the .lua or the lua.bak file. so there is nothing to upload here.

/WTF/Accounts/XXX/SavedVariables/CensusPlus.lua gives me a file i can upload but that way is no longer working right

How do you get the Censusplus.lua in both account folders working? Do i need to manually cut and paste(or copy) the one from the bnet or WoW account into the one WoW account that does not have it? Do I need to uninstall and delete all traces and start again or did you mean to upload the two exsiting files at seperate times?

Hmm, I'm just plain confused now, hopefully someone else can get their heads round it better, since it sounds like it's not working the way I'd expect it to! Not even sure how you manage to have both WTF/Account and WTF/Accounts, there's no such thing as an Accounts folder in any version of WoW I've played over the last nine years! So either Win 8 really screws with it (which it shouldn't), or there's something odd going on. Hopefully someone else has a better idea than me.

ok, what is maybe not understood is at one point both wow accounts were separate, under separate battlenet accounts.
About a month ago i decided to join both WoW accounts under one Battlenet account,

File structure is now

C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\WTF\ACCOUNT\

under the \ACCOUNT\ there are 3 folders,

%account% (account1)
%account% (account2)
Name (battlenet account)

each folder leads to its own /savedvariales/Census.lua accept one.

/%account% (account1)/savedvariales/Census.lua
/%account% (account2)/savedvariales/ <- mising .lua
/Name (battlenet account)/savedvariales/Census.lua

the /accounts/ was a typo, i did not see it but it was a copy/paste from the submit data page on this site, hope this makes more sence to you now.

That is an incorrect directory structure.. and I'm sorry to say we are the guilty party.

it should have been
/WTF/Account/XXX/SavedVariables/CensusPlus.lua

I'll ask the webmaster to change that bad info in the upload page.

As far as the missing file... this is all a Blizzard issue, since they control all file creation in their game. So for some reason the game is confused.

Suggestion:
move the whole account2 folder to a save location.
Start the wow client and log into Account 2
run a census, exit the game.
you should now have addon saved info for all your addons that save data between sessions on that account.

You can now at your discretion move back the files you had relocated or just make any configuration changes to your addons as you had before.
