Way to increase number of data submission

So I use the tool from wowhead.com that both updates it data mining mod and uploads the data for me. I don't mind keeping it running in the background and it gets them more information than I would give on my own due to lazyness

Why not create such an auto updater and uploader for the census mod. Seems like it would improve the number of data submissions.

you can DL the uniuploader tool to auto upload for you

I don't trust autoupdaters myself, but many people here like it

I know about uni-uploader. However, this still requires setup. I'm talking about something where the end user only has to install once from an execuatble and everything is automated from that point on.

It would definately make it easier to submit data, the drawback is of course that a lot of people have lost accounts and worse to wow related websites and executables containing trojans and offering a downloadable executable will make the more paranoid users stay far away.

Personally, I stay away from downloadable exe's. I like to always know at a glance exactly what I'm getting myself into

And I work in computers, so it's not like I don't know my way around one... I just like to keep things clean and simple.

So yeah, I think Alanthus hit the nail on the head.

What would be cool, and maybe I'll ping the uniuploader guys, is if it can automatically set up itself based on provided info.

It would be easy to write an uploader app, but as pointed out above, I don't want to scare anyone away by providing such a tool.

I guess giving one wouldn't hurt. I also know that one of our members is working on an uploader too so maybe he'll give some input =)
