displaying "old" guild members

Post by Stimme »

I am a bit confused about who is listed in the guild roster.

Befere I uploaded data the first time, the list of members was pretty inaccurate. E.g. people who already left the guild were still in the list. However, actual members that had not been seen by a census for 5 months were listed (EU-Aegwynn is not screened very often).

Then I did a census. After a certain latency, the data was updated and close to perfect. Ex-members had disappeared, probably all members appeared in the list.

Now I realize that this has changed again and only members seen by a census within the last 30 days (as maybe originally intended) are listed.
This might be okay if I take a census of non-guild players, but why aren't my members shown, as they have been confirmed as actual members of my guild by my very own census? Wouldn't it make sense to display players that have not been seen online but have been confirmed to exist by a guild-internal scan?

The reason why I am so concerned about this is that I am using the export function for our webpage (http://www.waldhueter.de/page.php?go=member) and it is not useful for me if only the members are displayed I can catch online (as this happens mostly late at night).

/edit: Our webpage still shows the data (for the next four hours) I could also see on warcraftrealms.com until recently - it does update only once a day to keep Rollie's traffic low. ;-)

The current way the system works is the way that most people wanted it to work. Since there was no way to remove characters, it would automatically remove characters not seen in a census within the last 30 days. However, it would re-add them if you submitted a guild snapshot with your census data.

I will hopefully be moving to allowing guild officers the ability to remove members from their roster. Once I have that in place, then I will stop automatically removing them and let the onus fall upon the guild leaders to keep any removed members from their roster.

That means, as soon as my next census data are processed, they will reappear?
If so, for how long?

They should. As for how long, until the next guild update process is run. It used to run a couple of times a day, but right now it's running about every other day to allow the data processing task to run as much as possible.
