For me it was
Alliance - Human - direct run to Lion's Pride Inn, Goldshire
Horde - Tauren - take the path up the mountain and throw myself off, rez in Bloodhoof village and into the inn.
But considering that Lion's Pride Inn is no longer a "rest" place with quick logout, I need to find another.
I guess the question I'll have to check out.. is it faster to run to the entrance of Storm Wind City as a human, or run to Dolanaar from the Night Elf starting point.
Pandas are a waste of time.
Worgens need too many quests finished to finally get to a restful inn.
Gnomes, Dwarves and Draenei are too far from the closest inn.
For larger population realms it doesn't really matter but since I tend to find realms with under 100 per faction, it takes nearly as long to log out as to do a census run. ok..exaggeration, but adding 20s to a run of 100s is significant.
Preferred races for census

Alliance - Human - I park them in Stormwind, usually in the cheese shop or across the path at that shop
Horde - Belf - Silvermoon, front gate is entertaining at times - Alliance groups and even single players at times take on the city.
Humans can fly from Goldshire to Stormwind and Belf from Falconwing Square almost to Silvermoon. I havent really timed it but I think they are close to the same time to run.
If I remember right it took 3 days running while taking census to park the Mug'thol toon in stormwind lol.

I've personally always just logged out on the starting point, 20s is irritating but less so than trying to walk to an inn on a server whose census ends very fast!
I am thinking that for optimal coverage, parking up in a spot which gathers a lot of traffic and leaving your mouse pointer over the busiest path will likely add a lot of crossrealm people though - I'm honestly not 100% sure if <10 ever get into the database these days (I'm sure they occasionally do, but not sure of the circumstances), but if they do, then Northshire Abbey and Sunstrider Isle are likely the best spots as both tend to be very busy. If not, then definitely outside Goldshire Inn for alliance, and for Horde, hmm... maybe gates of Orgrimmar gathers the most people?

I though I had seen a note from Metalbeast that he had relaxed the wait time between uploads after he brought up the new server for the site... but I can't find that message.
In spite of that keeping your upload rate to less then 1 every 15 minutes is still a good habit to maintain. It isn't like your going to lose credit for uploading because someone else got there first. We just don't have enough people uploading to worry about that.
