What I am about to say.. Blizzards lawyers and financial people don't want you to hear.
The reality is.. "Connected Realms" are merged realms on to single sets of servers.. with an added database field to fool the players into thinking they are separate realms connected together.
The illusion allows unaware people to think that World of Warcraft has not shrunk in size (user base, cash inflow, etc.).
Those who pay attention know the truth.
Resources have moved away from World of Warcraft and been refocused on the other games created by Blizzard.
When CensusPlus runs, some of the API calls revel the truth.. which is why the addon can determine the various sub set member realms.
They use the same internal server ID number, while having different realm names.
To be more specific on your questions.
All realms listed in the connected realms lists are scanned at the same time.
The class activity records that provide the data on each member realm for the activity graphs are created at the end of a census run , one record per member realm.
These records provide the date and time stamps for activity and quick stats.
As various pages state - Last 30 days, in the early morning hours each day the WarcraftRealms.com site recalculates that graphs, charts and stats.
So last 30 days is- - last 30 (most recent) days, every day.
