Anything we can do to help speed up the Last Processed"

Post by DaFox »

Last processed file was uploaded on 2007-01-17 17:39:24.
Current time is 2007-01-22 9:22:60 CST

Is there anything we can do to help?
I have just deleted my Censusplus.lua to help the server process my file faster but is there anything -u-s-e-f-u-l- err else we can do?

Not really =(

What needs to be done to allow for faster processing is not a trivial thing. The database has reached the size of enterprise level type stuff. There are some pretty major architectural changes that need to be done, as well as some pricey hardware that needs to be procured.

I'm doing what I can and plan to do more, unfortunately my hands are tied a bit at the moment.

On that note it seems to me that updates slowed done considerably when BC came into play, not hard to figure that one or more of a lot more changes to characters, two more races, a heavy influx of old and new players etc. will slow things down but I hope something can be done that's a little less drastic than stopping submissions for a while.

Oddly enough though, the slowdown did happen about that time, however, it was still processing files from like the 13th. So I wonder if it has to do with more people reinstating their accounts and playing a little before BC actually came out.

Course, the process was offline for nearly a day when we started hitting TBC data as there was a couple of loose ends I hadn't tied up dealing with the new races =x

All is hopefully running smoothly now though!

Ah, that explains why it seemed to be sitting at that one file for a day. I was about to report it to see if it was a file hanging it up or something, but then it started processing again. :)
