Realms Early Morning

Ok its 6:30am and The realm status seems rather weird, Currently there is only 11 low pop servers, and my server Scilla which during its high times these days is low pop is now Medium as well. Despite the fact that I just ran my census and there is 172 alliance online which is the lowest I've seen in 3 days the highest being 752.

Does the servers max capacity lower in the early mornings or is this them doing something to see which servers are the ones really in trouble?

One other thing, I just started using your addon to get more info on my servers population because on the alliance side it was always too few submits. One of the issues with this is obviously it tracks characters and not live accounts which of coarse is the real that that matters unless of coarse you have something like what I'm about to ask for.

Is there any numbers out there as to how many alts that Average player has, and I'm looking for a good number obviously something like an average of 2 or 3 would be wrong I mean like someone actually did alittle research and did some calculations.

This would give you atleast a rough estimate of how many actual people play on your server. Oh and to go with this, does anyone know what sort of numbers are used for what determines a low medium and high pop server? like does it take 2000 online to be considered medium etc

Blizzard may lower the queues in the morning, but I really doubt it. It is unknown how Blizzard categorizes the Realm Status page: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/realmstatus/, so all we can do is say that it gives a 'good' idea about the amount of players currently on that realm at this point in time.

Blizzard does not release any numbers at all... only knowing that they have 9 million players across the world. But this site only tracks US and EU, so a million or two more could be in China, Korea, and Taiwan..

As for what determines a high pop from a low pop... Its not known... But I would guess a 3000 player or more would be High, since the queues on the realms seem to be 4500, but most realms have never seen a queue since Burning Crusade came out when the caps increased to 4000+ from 3000.

not to mention that alts (>10) aren't counted in the general numbers.

Blizzards realm status is a relative measurement, in the mornings and combined horde and alliance population of 500 easily qualifies you as medium or high population but when you approach prime time you might need 2500 or more to do so.

ah ok so at that time of day its medium compared to other servers?

So the ranged change as the day goes along I guess, I dunno that doesn't sound right the more I think about it.

Dev0 - that is my understanding. It's all relative to the other servers at that time, not some value fixed on a particular rage.

Yeah if you look, most servers are medium in the early morning hours, while the variance seems to be a lot higher during peak times.
