Just wondering at what time do you update the signature images? what i was going to do was setup a cron job on my webserver to harvest the images of my forum's members from this server and store them locally on my own. the member would then link to my image and not the warcraftrealms.com image to try and save some bandwidth.

after hosting the wow patches on my own server in a public folder then getting owned by people linking to it and downloading it many times, i know what its like to battle with bandwidth consumption. so anything i can do to help out a fellow web master is no biggy.

You are welcome to do so, but the images are not updated at a specific time. They are just updated if the current image is older than 24 hours. If you set up your job to grab every 24 hours, you should be guaranteed to have the latest versions.

How many images are we talking about here anyway?

it would be about 15-20 images so far. possibly more as the guild grows.

on a side note, just how much bandwidth is used up through serving out the images?

It hasn't been an issue so far as I haven't even come close to using up my monthly allotment.

i'd have guessed you have a lot of bandwidth used, i've only hit my limit once so far, was hammered when i hosted a WoW patch and some random guild decided to link straight to it. sapped 20 gig in 3 hours...

Yeah, I have 2 terrabytes of bandwidth monthly and don't even use half yet.

Well, it comes with the dedicated server package that I have. And yes, hosting for this site isn't cheap =x
