CensusPlus is spyware.

I turned off "Collect information about this character" (para-phasing) in the options menu, I then deleted CensusPlus.lua from the SavedVariables directory. I then logged back on, hit start - it collected, and then logged back out. CensusPlus.lua now contains a list of all my items, quests and my guild's ranks.
So would the developers care to explain three things:
1. Why this invasion of privacy is the default?
2. When they plan on correcting it?
3. Why when said option is off is said data not deleted from the CensusPlus.lua?
I guess at least we should be grateful they aren't also uploading our friends and ignore list (yet).

1 - Actually, when you load up, it defaults to NOT collect your profile information. If you went and CHECKED it, then it now COLLECTS that information. UNCHECK it for it not to collect the data.
2 - It is working as intended. If you do not want it to collect your profile information, then don't check the "Collect Profile for this Char" option.
3 - Valid point. I will put it on my list to remove profile data for characters when you uncheck the option that you previously had checked.
As for Friends and Ignore list data, that actually could be interesting to track. Great idea!
As an addendum, don't be so melodramatic. In order for your profile data to even appear on the site, 7 things must happen.
1 - You have to install the mod.
2 - You have to enable profiling in the mod.
3 - You have to upload your data.
4 - In the post processing step, you have to take the extra effort to have your profile data processed.
5 - You have to create an account on the site.
6 - You have to claim the character the profile data belongs to.
7 - You have to select to un-hide the profile information.
So there is absolutely zero chance that any of your data will ever be seen without your knowledge and permission.

The title's a bit sensationalist. Do you own a tinfoil hat?

Wow you get upset about something as simple as some data about a fake character in a video game? Perhaps, you should look at real privacy issues in real life that should upset you. That cellphone you hold in your hands tracks more important, valid data than this great mod will ever track.

I like this mod... I really do. If Blizz won't tell us how many people are on each server, we'll tell ourselves. (Not like they can't tell how many connections are on the server at one time...)
I've been collection info on my server, probably gonna collect the Horde's tomorrow on my Blood Elf alt. (Terenas-US).

Major LOL! I remember when people were crying about The Armory being an invasion of privacy lol, I think it's one of the best things Blizzard ever did.
