CensusPlus.lua missing

Post by Frotra »

I tried looking for a similar topic, but, couldn't easily find it.

I was troubleshooting some other problems relative to performance, and moved various folders, like WTF, ADDONS, etc. Later on, I moved the ADDONS folder back, but, erased the WTF folder, since Blizzard said it would be recreated.

It wasn't, so I created the structure, but, I don't have any SavedVariables folder with any of the things in it that I would expect, like enchanter, CensusPlus, or AH data.

What do I need to do to get it back?

Logging into the game and using the mods should recreate the files in your savedvariables folder. The downside to erasing your WTF folder, of course, is that the WTF folder has all your saved settings, so you'll have to completely redo all your settings for your mods. It's usually recreated if it's been erased when you log into a character, set up settings for your mods, and then log out.

Isn't there some potential Vista problem with creating those files?

Permissions on Vista?

Post by Frotra »

Yes, I have Vista. When I checked the folder permissions, it looked a little whacked. I changed the folder permissions, including sub-folders and files to be open to Admins, and the specific user I login with.

No dice. It was strange though, that things like map notes through cartographer, and enchantrix, and auctioneer were remembered. It had to be stored somewhere?!

Here is where I found it:
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\<accountname>\SavedVariables

There's probably something that was set to go to alternate directories until one was found that WoW and it's addons could write to.

On Vista, this is where WoW files are saved. Addons are only allowed to write to this directory and:

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\<accountname>\<realm>\<char>\SavedVariables\

Censusplus.lua file that is used to save info about characters on your realm and the one you need to upload is:

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\<accountname>\SavedVariables\Censusplus.lua

Also running WoW as administrator is a must. :)

Man, vista sucks... it's no wonder I haven't "upgraded" to it yet :P
