As a serious guildmaster, I am of course very concerned with how my guild performs relative to other guilds. Although I acknowledge that rank by EXP is a very useful tool, I would like to suggest that other attributes of a guild are equally important, especially to guilds that don't focus on level advancement or raiding. Being guildmaster of a social guild, I am much more concerned with the 'activity level' as compared to other guilds as well as the overall population (more the former than the latter).
Through the web interface, it is already possible to view a line graph depicting the activity level of a server over the course of a day. I think it would be very helpful to many guildmasters in assessing their guild as well as to players who are serious about picking the right guild if site visitors could see a graph with two lines, one being the number of players online in a particular guild over the course of a day, and the other being the average over all the guilds (in the same realm?) for the same statistic. And of course, it would also be nice to see a ranking guilds as far as average activity level is concerned. Thanks for your time in reading this! I hope my suggestions help to improve Census+.

Do you feel that guild activity level (average # of players online) is an important factor in choosing a guild to join?
I voted no. The reason for that is, an "active" guild full of level 1-10 characters holds no appeal to me. Character level matters, imo - unless the server is new and you're all starting out together. I, personally, would rather be in an "active" guild with 12 total characters who are at or near my level than an "active" guild with 100 characters that are all level 5.

That makes little sense to me Sianni, but whatever.
To the OP, I voted yes. I chose to do so because higher activity (especially at the end-game stage), means more time to work out boss strats, etc. Or if you have enough on, you can go for the epic boss that just spawned out in the world. That is important, all the more so if you are on a PvP server, where getting to the boss first is the only chance you get. Or you can throw together a 10-15 man raid and go to PvP.

I'm not suggesting that the statistic I have described is a better statistic to measure guild success than total XP, only that to many people, it's another useful statistic. Also, I realize it isn't perfect in that it doesn't distinguish between a high level active guild and a low level one. However, if you're looking for a particular level range, you can consider the 'most active' guilds by ranking, and browse through them while inspecting level distributions. By combining the level histrogram with the activity level, you should be able to find active guilds in a target level range. Thanks for your input!
Agreed, it is another useful statistic and it's always better to have more information than less. My reply was based on just using activity level (average # of players online) to determine if one should join a particular guild - which is what I thought you were asking. Other applications
I'd like to also point out for sake of discussion that even when you're not talking about endgame, an active guild is usually preferable to an inactive one. Having more players online in general means more active social chat, easier grouping, and faster answers to simple questions. In the case of social guilds that schedule a lot of guild activities, it also makes those activities larger, and hence more enjoyable. Thanks again!
I will say that I think it would be a good idea, but I don't know that it would be very practical. Tracking this kind of info would cause quite a large data explosion.
Adding this in would not really be very hard to do, so maybe I'll do some testing on my server and see what kind of results that would give and think on if it will be viable or not.

Alternative Implementation
If somehow sampling and logging guild populations at the time a census is taken and integrating that data with the database proves impractical, it may be enough to simply look at the number of guild members who have been seen in the last week (or some other short timespan). This might not be the ideal measure of 'activity', but could use existing data, and I think it would be a good enough measure to at least rank guilds, if not provide a timeline of daily activity.
