Internationalization

Post by Rollie »

I see that I'm beginning to have some Euro information trickle in. I know it's only for the Beta Server for now, but with the Euro launch, it will be a lot more.

I may need some help in translating the races and classes so if you know Dutch, French, or even Korean or Chinese, I could use your help!

I need to know what to look for when processing the census data to know which race is which as well as classes.

If you know these other languages and would like to help out, I'd really appreciate it!

right now you don't need dutch and you'll probably never need it since it's a small coutry and they are extremely fluent in english !

english races
========
Alliance

* Humans
* Dwarves
* Gnomes
* Night Elves

vs. Horde

* Orcs
* Trolls
* Tauren
* Undead

german races :
==========
* Menschen
* Zwerge
* Gnome
* Nachtelfen

vs. Horde

* Orcs
* Trolle
* Tauren
* Untote

french races
========
L'Alliance

* Humains
* Nains
* Gnomes
* Elfes de la nuit

vs. La Horde

* Orcs
* Trolls
* Taurens
* Morts-vivants

I get all this from parallel pages on the
http://en.wow-europe.com/info/races/ (flag upper fright corner)

unfortunately, not all sites are identical, and it's impossible for me to understand the korean and chinese sites ...

don't forget to check from the /who database, that could be slightly different
i'll get the classes later

for the plural "s" as a last letter is the solution for the french

for the german, it seems to be more complicated, here is what i picked up from this (http://de.wow-europe.com/info/classes/= page)

PLURAL english - french - german

- Druids - Druides - Druiden
- Hunters - Chasseurs - J?ger
- Mages - Mages- Magier
- Paladins- Paladins- Paladine
- Priests - Pr?tres- Priester
- Rogues - Voleurs - Schurken
- Shamans - Chamans - Schamanen
- Warlock - D?monistes - Hexenmeister
- Warrior - Guerriers - Krieger

who said french is complicated and german systematic

I actually think I would handle it, although not 100% correctly. Would you mind sending me a copy of your SavedVariables.lua file to rollie@warcraftrealms.com?
