Playing in the BC Beta?

Post by Rollie »

What's your character name? I'm Horde on the PVP server, will update my name soon as I know what it'll be =)

Well, I just couldn't resist getting this up and running. Here's the first crack at Census+ for TBC expansion!

I really want to update the display. For now, this is the current display resized, as well as allowing for the additional races and classes, as well as level bars up to 70.

Please let me know if you find errors or strange behavior as I already found a couple of things due to the nuances of using LUA 5.1.

In the beta but on the European servers ;) At least looking at the forums we have totally different server names, so I'm pretty sure we're totally separate!

Looking forward to the C+ beta, I miss having to running while I play ;)

I will test it out as well Rollie. I am Adelinn and Wuzzy on the alliance side of Blade's Edge. Maybe I will run into on there.

Balgair have you noticed that leveling is really hard. I find the quests extremely difficult with my gear. I am down to 500 health on my warrior with each mob! I should make a new topic about this rather than clutter this one. =p

Yup, it depends a lot on the mobs though, some are no problem but others hurt like heck. I've gone through more bandages going from lvl 60 to lvl 62 than I ever did before - I think melee classes are going to suffer a bit.

I can manage single mobs fine but getting adds just hurts... and have you met the lovely electric eels that give you a 20 nature dmg hit on every one of your hits? Might not be bad for a warrior with a 2H but I'm a rogue... I'm only glad I don't use daggers :P

Just tried running Censusplus and there's some hiccup with the draenei players, as they aren't showing under the draenei column in the races bit.

If I select the Draenei on the races it shows zero (while there are plenty online), and when I look at the lvl 68s it says there are 6: 4 night elf, one dwarf... and that's it in the breakdown, but the 6th is a draenei (he must have a LOT of spare time!) It does recognise shamans, as when I click on the sole lvl 37 result it shows a shaman... with no race ;)

A quirk I've noticed, don't know if it's intentional or not, but whenever I do a /who that brings up a window of players C+ processes it. Tbh I'd prefer it not to as it slows down getting my /who info significantly.

C+ has always processed your random /who results. How does it slow down your info? It should be completely transparent.

Ah, ok, maybe it's just that I've never done a random /who while having verbose on then. But it really is slow to bring the /who window up now, and it never was before that I noticed, takes 2-3 seconds more now, and I just assumed the processing was to do with it. Didn't realise it'd already been in, so I guess I took a wrong conclusion there.

Will try the new beta version and see how that works, thanks! :)

Edit: Yep, seems to work fine now :)

Hrm, I think that might have just been lag. The time it takes to process the result should be completely nil, even with a huge DB. Let me know if you continue to see slow loads though.

Will do, I've been getting a lot of lag issues so it wouldn't surprise me - my ping wasn't actually in the red at the time (and it is most of the time) but all the same it could well have been laggy. I'll experiment with it at different times and see if it clears up when I'm on a green ping :)

I am getting lots of UI related lag as well. I thought it was CensusPlus at first, but I think it is Blizzard's Quest Tracker. Without fail, anytime I kill something I get a burst of lag when the quest objective pops up on my screen. Maybe that is the same lag you are getting Balgair.

I haven't tried out the new version yet, but I will let you know how it works for me. It is amazing how little alliance were on yesterday, only 450!

Ahhh, that certainly explains a different batch of lag I'm getting! It wasn't the /who lag, as I was sitting in Shattrath city doing nothing when that happened, but I've since done /whos without a problem, so I guess I was just lagging anyway. Really wish my ping would stop going up to 1k or more; it's mightly hard to kill casters when kick has a 2 sec cast time :P

I tried to post this earlier but the site was down. I got my first error with CensusPlus. If I click on First Aid, I get an error and then I have to do /console reloadui to get rid of the problem with my cursor.

I am getting another error, but I am not so sure it is with Census. My quest log has been giving me a lot of problems and I think it is on Blizzard's end.

Edit: Here is the other error I am getting. This just started happening after a server restart yesterday. But I don't think it has to do with Census.

I'm getting your 2nd error too, I suspect it's a Blizz thing. Strangely only one of my characters has it, the others are fine.

I am now getting this error if I go to the bank or open my tailoring window or cooking window. I may have to go disable until Rollie can get an update out.

Quick Q for Rollie.

How did you get a beta-key? Blizzcon... or?

Found my first error message ;)

Interface\Addons\Censusplus\Censusplus.lua:2160: table index is nil

Happened when I portalled from Shattrath to IF, never seen it any other time yet. By the looks of my chat window a census was running at the time of portalling (the start was before the channel changes and the end was after tham).

Did it happen right after you zoned into IF?

Yep, it came up as I appeared, so I assume it was linked to the zoning.
