December Drawing

Post by Rollie »

I'll assign tickets and such as soon as all the files from November have been processed. Still have a few files to go...

Hehe ironic thing was I censused way less than usual this month, been spending so much time on beta and levelling my hunter on live ;) Now if I could just get down to hard censusing for a full month I believe 300k updates is possible, maybe even 400k... one month I'll do it and see just how much can be done :D

Rollie - do you have any record of what the highest ever submissions in a month was? Or even the highest updates in one submission? I'm curious how my personal records compare to the overall ones - don't actually know what my monthly record was, but my single submission records are:

Submission Date New Entries Update Entries
2006-09-29 20:23:22 4929 19074
2006-10-07 19:08:56 4424 23394

If those aren't the alltime records I want to know, need some new targets to aim at ;)

Giving more data concerning updates is something I really want to work on. Hopefully I'll be able to get those changes in before '08 =/

The site redesign will be coming down the pipe before long. And I have some big plans for some new features. And of course there's busted features that need work too... and db changes... and this... and that ...

WTB more time...

Bah 15 of the top 25 but not the top one! Ok, I consider that a challenge :D

(My PC just died on me anyway, so I guess I can do some major censusing on the laptop for a few days till it's fixed ;))

I'm sorry, I hope I'm choosing the right thread to post this.
I have absolutely no idea what you guys are talking about with these "updates" and what not. Anyone care to enlighten (and not flame!) me? I'm here to learn. : )

Look at your My Characters page: http://www.warcraftrealms.com/charlist.php

If you have submitted some data and it has been processed you will see the headings Submision Date, New Entries, Update Entries. Beside each of your submission you will see the number of new entries and updated entries. The tickets for these draws are given out based on the total number of Updated Entries for that month.
So lets say in November you had a total of about 20000 players updated over that month. You would of recieved 20 tickets for this drawing.

New Entries is the number of characters which the database has NOT seen before and has created an entry for. Updated Entries is the number of characters the database HAS seen and needed to update, due them lvling up and changing guilds.

I think we need to go back a step here D.M. This site shows Census Data for the WoW realms. That information is gathered by people like you and I who feel the information is important. There is a mod called CensusPlus that Rollie put together. It can be downloaded here. http://www.warcraftrealms.com/censusmod ... -3.6.0.zip

You download it, and unzip it into your Interface->Addons folder. It does /who queries to gather information. That information is then uploaded to this site here. http://www.warcraftrealms.com/upload.php

Then any information that is new to the database or is an update(level change, guild change etc) is parsed out and added to the census information that can be found here http://www.warcraftrealms.com/realmstats.php and here http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php

Rollie gives people incentives to download the mod and helping out by having monthly contests. These contests are usually a gift certificate to Amazon.com, but it could be other things as well. The ticket numbers Rollie assigns is 1 ticket per 1000 updates. It may seem like a lot of updates, but it is rather easy.

Hopefully that is a good explanation for you. :D

Did this one take the top spot, or has someone else beaten me to it? ;)

Ah I see you gave me a goal to aim for, I should let you know when I submit my next upload, which should be later today for me.

Just add, I haven't submited in two weeks until this one. Almost to the sec too. Guess we'll see what this one comes up with.

2006-12-21 17:28:24 UNPROCESSED
2006-12-07 17:28:22 UNPROCESSED

Granted that other submit never did get parsed either.
