I am getting a string of zero entries starting on Jan 1st

Post by Fox14 »

I was playing on New Years and I had 4 seperate loads.... and I am getting 0 new characters and 0 updated... these were over a span of 12 hours or so. I had created a new character so I know they are available (I searched for the new character and it doesn't exist). WHen I take the census in the game it reports that it is finding stuff... It seems so unusual it looks like a bug

Refer to this post. I bet you are uploading the wrong file.

It is possible, except another batch went through and I got a 0 1 ... If I am sending the wrong thing how did that happen. I will check though. Thanks for the suggestion

That isn't much of a difference to see that the file uploaded isn't correct. If you uploaded the correct file then you should at least see some larger numbers like at least 100 chars updated or something, depending on how many people on your realm are uploading data. Even if you loaded back to back, which is very unlikely, you should at least see a dozen chars updated

Hmmm, mine for january 1st have 0's too, there is of course a slight chance the client had crashed or something but with someone else mentioning this too we might be looking at the same date issue as last year for processing data?

I think there's an issue with the site - I had some from 1/1 that were near 0 entries - I posted in the thread linked above - and now they are showing as UNPROCESSED after Rollie said he'd look at my uploads. Hopefully he can provide some better information.

I'm doing some checks, hence why you'll see some that were previously processed as now showing UNPROCESSED.

I see they are starting up again but I am getting a string of 0's again... but the frist one of Jan 1st has a few more entries making it in than it used to.

There does seem to be something iffy, yes - my only submission recently has come out at:

2007-01-01 21:20:10 90 620

Doesn't look bad, but it's a lot lower than I'd expect from a fairly lengthy session on my own server... and the killer - that submission was done a good 2-3 hours' worth of playing after I levelled up to 56 on my hunter (and I have it set to census every 10 minutes so it should definitely have picked it up), but my poor hunter still shows as level 55 on my character list.

Hmm, actually, on checking his character page at http://www.warcraftrealms.com/char/25320851 I'm a bit puzzled, last verified is lvl 55, but it does in fact show my level up as dated Jan 2nd at the bottom of the page (which can't have been my submission as mine was on the 1st)... and it has last seen as December 20th :? Now ok I've been on holiday and quite probably didn't play him between the 20th and the 1st, but still, I'd have expected him to have the last seen bit updated...

Last time I was seen was Dec 30, 06
http://www.warcraftrealms.com/char/Silvermoon/Drazen

Yet I submitted a file on Jan 1, 07 and played all day and night on the 31st and it didn't update even though the file was processed and a good number of new chars and updated chars were processed. Not sure if it was the same number as it was before the rollback, but
2007-01-01 11:49:36 466 1948
Seems to be a reasonable number for a submission.

I'll see what happens in a few hours when my stuff from the 3rd and 4th get processed.....

Okay, I think I found it now... and I think it was what Alanthus was alluding to as I think this was a similar problem we had last year.

Anyway, doing some additional checks to be sure.

Whatever you did seems to work - my 1 am submission has picked up an additional 800 characters, which puts it more in line with previous submissions.

Hmm did it get processed again??

The same submission I made on the 1st now has different numbers:
2007-01-01 11:49:36 500 2201

But I'm happy to report that I was last seen on the 1st =) which is inline with where the database is now... So yay its working again!

Yeah I think Rollie reset everything from the 1st onwards to run again; mine went back to unprocessed for a bit before the new figures appeared, and they're much more like what I expected to see :)
