Well, it's useful to get rid of the /say spam filling your chatbox in IF every day, just you may as well remove them again next time you log on :P

The mails are really getting on my nerves now, coming back from holiday and finding some on characters I've not played in a week indicates to me they must be using some database of names, probably gained from either this site, or their own one likely using a mod copied from Censusplus (if not Censusplus itself)... which is remarkably irritating when I really like and support the whole concept of this site :?

The gold sellers probably made their own mod, but it is possible that they are using CensusPlus just to be cheap. My hatred of gold sellers goes way beyond getting some letters in the mail or the whispers. They made it personal for me and my husband, so whenever I see them, they get reported right away. I can't go into it, but they are jerks lol

I heard that this past week, IGE had a huge problem with supply since Blizzard banned all of those accounts. And that earthquake damaged some major internet lines in Asia and even in parts of Australia from what I have read. Well anyways, a lot of the sellers were unable to play online to farm gold, so IGE wasn't selling to any of the little guys this week. I like to hear of things like this because it just feels like the gold sellers are so huge, that nothing will ever be done to them. Then a natural event like an earthquake made them scramble. 8)

Okay I am rambling, but this past week was probably the worst week for them since WoW opened.

It may be useless in the long run but you do get rid of the spam immediately for that particular user name.

Working on a list of sites selling gold to try and ban them from my site ads. But it looks like everyday 2 new ones popup out of no where :/.
Just imagine how bad the keyloggers and spamming will be when ppl need to save over 5,000g for their epic flying mounts. :| Then those people who hack will be getting a much more serious amount of gold from each account as well.
From what I've heard it's really easy to get money through questing and killing mobs with TBC, so hopefully there won't be as many people buying then.

In my opinion the reason why the whispers, mails etc are so common right now is that they are getting desperate to sell their gold, since they see it's going to be easier to get gold with the expansion.

If there's going to be some grinding places in TBC I hope it's going to be more or less free from botters and such, since they have to buy both the game AND the expansion ;) Then again I could be wrong.

EDIT: why doesn't the quoting work? :?

I thought the beta accelerated things like the money loot.... I know they did that with the exp gain, just for the beta.

I don't think the money gains have been accelerated for beta, it shows a fairly clear increase along the same lines as that in the 1-60 game, slightly higher, yep, but then the amount mobs hit for and the quality of all gear is higher than the natural progressions based on 1-60 too.

If it does stay the same, money isn't hard to get, but bots will struggle - I'm struggling myself in some places, it's not easy trying to acheive anything where mobs are so densely packed you're guaranteed to get adds. Bots probably won't cope with those places at all well (I hope!)

Gold is a lot easier to get but things are a lot more expensive in Beta right now too. So it is hard to say. I sold 1 Primal Water for 100G yesterday. :| But bought 10 Arcane Dust for 120G to level 4 skill points in Tailoring.

I guess on one hand, yes it is easier to make gold because I can go out and mine up 10 Fel Iron Ore and sell it for 100 gold, BUT if I want to buy a nice pair of green +damage gloves or a belt, it is going to cost me 75G.

It is really hard to explain to someone who isn't in Beta right now. The prices things are selling for on my server is totally inflated. 1 Stack of Runecloth is selling for 10+G to give you an idea. We will have to see what happens when this goes LIVE.

Yeah, prices can be pretty mad, I stuck a dropped blue jewelcrafting recipe on the ah the other day at 5g, no buyout, expecting it to go for 30-50g or so.... it sold for 800g  And stacks of 20 Knothide leather were selling for 200g a couple of months back, which is massive fun when you're one of the people who didn't copy your guild bank across, so don't have that much cash...

Strangely most prices have died down recently, though greens never were all that inflated (any that were didn't sell anyway), maybe I'm lucky with the majority of my server's population being sensible. Although right now no-one's even playing I think, the AH is 150-odd gems from the same person, and about 20 miscellaneous items, half of which are usually mine.

I think this is where you hit the nail on the head. People don't realize that alot of the gold on Beta is gold that has been copied over 4+ times.

And about that pattern selling for 800g I would have suspected that. It must have been one of the ones that are sought after.

Did you make it to level 70 Balgair? I am curious.

Level 69 atm, should be 70 in a couple of days if I can keep my concentration on levelling :) Trouble is I keep getting distracted by my live characters! However I just made the trip to Shadowmoon and found the gryphon vendor, which has given me some extra incentive to do that last 780k exp - I really want to see the world from flight :)

As far as the money goes, yep, people copying large sums across has skewed it, but even without that it definitely is higher - cash drops are higher, greys vendor for more, quests still give 3-4g even though I'm not at maximum level, etc. Overall I've made 2k gold profit since starting beta, and although 1k can be discounted as excessively high-priced sales, the rest is just normal levelling profits (like me selling greens for buyout of double the recommended starting price, which is my policy on live as well), so still good money really! :)

Man I wish runecloth sold for 10g a stack on live... it's down to almost 1g a stack on mal'ganis. Good for bandaids, bad for people who were farming it for cash :P

And I'm 70 now :D Had 3000 gold before I bought my gryphon, very much enjoying flying around looking at stuff now, though flying over lvl 72 elite fel reavers is a little scary, I'm not too sure on aggro ranges while flying lol.

Flying is just awesome, you can see so much more of everything, and reach a few places you can't otherwise - I found a random mine full of ogres and arakkoa on the edge of the world, no idea what its purpose is but it looks cool, great to find little hidden bits that you wouldn't even have known existed without the gryph! :)

Well I only managed to get to 63 on beta (owing to me not having enough time to dedicate to beta) and was able to generate ~ 500G just leveling to 63 and putting greens on the AH for around 10G tops, so no selling of trade skills bits involved and no attempts at farming either

To try and deal with the gold seller spam problem, I recommend the mod Spam Sentry, it tidies up my chat box quite nicely and adds a 'report Spam' button to all mails and when you right click on a character's name.

I'll admit that like any anti spam list it does need updating, but running it over the Christmas period, I only had to manually update the mods 'blacklist' twice, to remove the newest gold selling sites that had sprung up.

Sounds a good mod, I got one today with a similar purpose - http://wow.curse-gaming.com/en/files/de ... asyreport/ - it doesn't block the spam out but at least makes it nice and easy to report it!
