mm DNS one is the most easy of all if you ask me. Just alter the local hosts file point it to a evil server and your done. Or you get your website hacked (ui.worldofwar.net or curse-gaming.com as we all know) and most users are to stupid (no offense to them ofc but it's kinda common knowledge that most of them just click yes as long as they get what they want) to see if it's real or fake and they got a virus, keylogger or trojan.Kerebo wrote:even legit companies get their stuff hijackedDM. wrote:It seems to be legit based on the Searches I have done on the company. Yeah then those people who get hacked usually blame everyone but themselves. I have seen a few people on the WoW boards say they have been hacked 2 or 3 times. Don't you think after the first time, they would want to become a bit more knowledgeable about what they are downloading and clicking on? /shrug I swear the IQ of people has dropped significantly in the past decade. Maybe we are around 85 now on average lolWyriHaximus wrote:mm DNS one is the most easy of all if you ask me. Just alter the local hosts file point it to a evil server and your done. I allways wonder why they never created something like a computer course you HAVE TO TAKE to be aware of such things. Now it's just like driving with alcohol for alot of people not knowing what they do. An example is RL parents of a friend that got every 2 sec a new popup (not joking it was realy that bad!) and they ask them self what was wrong. So asked if they clicked on anything regardless what it sayed. And after a few moments they said yes ashamed of knowing that was the cause of the problems. Ran 1 tool and all was gone. After that they never had problems with it anymore. But some people are to ignorant to understand it at that point. (And those are the people I refuse to fix their computers aswell thooiseaux wrote:Yeah then those people who get hacked usually blame everyone but themselves. We're a lazy generation, we have auto-updates, popup blockers, instant access, easy setup, WYSIWYG editors, why not something that takes care of itself?
We're so lazy that we have cookies to remember our login information, and auto complete. Not to mention auto-correct mispelled words, spell check, .... WE EVEN HAVE A CAR THAT PARALLEL PARKS ITSELF!!!!
We want everything and we want it now. I think that microwave popcorn takes too long. I hate waiting at lights, I sometimes make aright hand turn, U turn, and make another right hand turn instead of waiting 20-30 seconds to go straight. I hate it when I call someone and it rings 4 times before they pick up. I hate the 'stupid-friendly' voicemail instructions that take longer than the "leave a message" recording that my friends have; I usually hang up in fit of rage.
Blame the parents? No way ... we made ourselves that way; but watch for this... For all the parents that don't want to threaten pulling over and disciplining thier kids on roadtrips, the parents that think that 3 minutes of 'time out' is enough psychological torture to set them straight. You are the kind that give them a game boy, a portable dvd player, a gaming system every year, their own hd tv in their own room, even their own cell phone to text away at school while you think it's for "emergencies only". They're going to have short attention spans and you can see it now ... how many prescriptions of ADD have they given out? Adult ADD? Back in the day it was "straighten up and pay attention" right after a nice stinging blow. We have pills for everything and have ourselves on auto pilot... and we SHOULDN'T have programs that auto update?

wow, the topic really took a few turns since i posted that. anyway, i can assure everyone that this a legit thing. i'm not pushing anyone to try it, but you can join the website and read about it. thats it. no obligation to download anything, just read about its capabilities. and again, its just an offer. only the willing need apply.
on the topic of hacking, we totally agree that WoW is the worst place for it. In fact, in my efforts to get people involved, I've found that WoW users are highly skeptical, and I understand completely. Playxpert is just an IM tool that runs on top of games. Security is a high priority, for any gamer. We know how much you guys pay a month and how much time you put into it. I can honestly say that running our client in-game poses no more risk than running xfire or msn while you play a game. Playxpert lays on top of the game, it doesn't actually interfere with the game. Its just an overlay. So it can lay on top of WoW or Bf2142 or the Zoo Tycoon if you want. The only thing that Playxpert does that is game specific is raking data from the server, so you can keep up with your stats. But other than that, its just a IM tool you can use in-game that uses preexisting chat bridges to let you talk to all the other chat clients at once. Its awesome. And its safe. But it doesn't actually change game play at all.
And like others on this forum said, when you mindlessly click yes on any page, you take big risks. Our site is private at the moment, its also small and each person has been personally invited. And if people would rather, I'll send them invites directly from my own PERSONAL gmail account. Security and privacy are promised. You can call our product stupid or even call me a douchebag salesman (that was pretty funny, actually), but don't call me a keylogging, trojan horse riding, spammer. We are making a real tool for real people and I am looking for real interest in beta testing. Deal? Just one person: check it out and then let everyone else know that its safe.
And most importantly, thanks for the time guys.
(also, the car that parallel parks itself is a lexus and it is a monument to human laziness)

I'll try it out, it seems like a very sound idea, it'll be the next Trillian for the gamers; simple enough.
Hm... maybe they'll be a way to see webcams on yahoo while w0wing it up... that way my plan to w0w and pay attention to Sandra won't get foiled
"Are you paying attention?" "Yes Darlin'"
"Are you playing w0w?" "How could I see you then? The game takes up the whole screen?"

Just wondering does it requires wow to run fullscreen or not?tsmokes wrote:wow, the topic really took a few turns since i posted that. anyway, i can assure everyone that this a legit thing. i'm not pushing anyone to try it, but you can join the website and read about it. thats it. no obligation to download anything, just read about its capabilities. and again, its just an offer. only the willing need apply.

Also is it game indipendent? For example will it work with Far Cry? Or any other random game? Cause it would be realy interesting then

Playxpert runs as an overlay. Basically, it intercepts the monitor driver and puts itself in there first. So, it'll show up on the screen no matter what is going on. You can use with no game going or with ANY game going. You can even use it with minesweeper if you want. Its not a mod to WoW, its not a mod at all. It is a IM app that'll run with anything or it'll run alone. However, if you are playing a game that you want to record your stats for, it'll do that. It can contact game servers, and it'll even let you search servers for people, or you can search by game and find people who play what you play. a lot of xfire users have been eagerly awaiting that last feature, but xfire doesn't offer it (you can search for users, but not search by game).
And on the security issue: we take security as seriously as you do. if people aren't safe using it, they won't use it. if people don't use it, it will fail miserably and we'll lose everything we've invested into it. thats how we think of it. so we are just like you guys: we both have a lot invested, we both have a lot to lose if this thing is not secure.
I've gotten a great response from you guys and I want to say thanks. the feedback is awesome. special thanks to DM.
(i can't afford the lexus or the mercedes, so i'll do my own driving
