We don't know if it will happen again soon. I would guess that it wont be for sometime. Before the burning crusade was released pretty much any realm that had a queue of several hundred were up for free transfers.
After the expansion was released the player cap on all realms were increased by about 1000 players from a previous 3000, about, some realms had up to 3500 before and now 4500 after, it just depends, but most realms have a 4000 player cap now. If your realm is still having queues then Blizzard may offer a free realm transfer, but this will only happen after many weeks and sometimes months.
There have been realms that have had multiple free transfers, Skullcrusher was one of them. I believe they had about 6 or 7 free realm transfers since the game was released, it last had one before the expansion came out to Alterac Mountains.
The search feature of the forums is currently down so I cannot check to see when the last time Wildhammer had a free realm transfer, or if it ever had one.

The list of realms eligible for free tranfers is always found here:
https://www.worldofwarcraft.com/account ... ealms.html
You can always find it by going to the main page, and navigating on the left side to Account->Move Character
It's currently an empty list.
Why would you want to transfer? Are there queues regularly? Good luck!

The downside to most free transfers are that not nearly as many people take them as needed, and they usually make you transfer to a certain realm. In a lot of cases, the new server ends up a ghost town. If that's what you were looking for then it's not a problem, but I'd rather be on an overcrowded server than a completely dead one

I agree with you that it is much better to be on a high or medium pop server than a low pop one. All though, I did leave Emerald Dream because I was fearing a forced server split.xpolockx wrote:The downside to most free transfers are that not nearly as many people take them as needed, and they usually make you transfer to a certain realm. Nothing worse than a low pop server where you can't find what you are looking for on the AH. Those low pop servers are usually low on guilds and it is extremely difficult to find groups for stuff. I would take a high pop server over a low pop one any day! lol
