CensusPlus 2.0 Released!

Post by Rollie »

Here are the new features:

<ul>
<li>Friends panel will no longer even attempt to open if the auto-close who is selected. This
allows any other panels to be open during a census and they will not close or change your
view.</li>
<li>Mini-Census button is now moveable. You'll have to click just around the button to move it</li>
<li>Added PVP Honor tracking. This will be viewable on the site soon.</li>
<li>Modified the time tracking, cool new stats on the site to follow soon.</li>
<li>Added in some regional server detection. Please note if you get any error messages detailing
that the Mod thinks your locale should be set differently and let me know about them.</li>
<li>Auto-census will no longer start as soon as you log in and will instead wait 5 minutes.</li>
</ul>

The biggest and best change (IMHO) is my figuring out how to suppress the Friends panel from popping up at all. This was actually very simple once I actually thought to do it that way! This really makes taking a census very painless. You can now do pretty much anything while the census is going on including viewing the AH, your bank, the guild/raid tabs, etc etc. The only thing you can't do is do your own /who, and I'm experimenting with ways to allow this eventually as well!

Notice also that the Mini-census button is now moveable. The click area is kinda small right around the outside of the button, but you should be able to find it.

Also, I added some regional server detection. I am not using this just yet but probably will in future versions. Please let me know if you see any error or notification messages that mention your locale vs. US or EU that don't make any sense to you.

As always, let me know if you find any problems/issues!

There were a couple of bugs that made it into this release. Be sure to grab the latest file if you are having problems viewing the WHO window when a Census is not running or if you are having French and German formatting errors. Sorry!

great job!

These changes address almost all of the gripes I had with censusplus. Keep up the good work!

Looking at my SavedVariables.lua I noticed that the dates that are saved unter "TimesPlus" are wrong, i.e. I did a census today (2005-04-26) but in the SavedVariable.lua the date that was saved is 2005-04-25. This seems to be reproducable. The date is always one day off. The time is right though.

Again, this only affects the dates under "TimesPlus". The other dates are correct.

The date that you see, is that SERVER date, or your local date? It attempts to adjust the date to the SERVER date.

What tiimezone are you located in? What server do you play on?

If you are in a guild, let me know your guild and character as it makes it much easier finding the submitted info that way (so I can do some checks).

Well, I don't know what the server date is. Anyway the problem I see is that there are two different dates saved in the SavedVariables.lua. Under "TimesPlus" the date that is saved lies one day in the past (in relation to the local date at least). The time saved there is absolutely correct (in relation to the local time). On the other hand the dates that are saved with each character name are correct (in relation to the local date as far as I can tell), i.e. if character XYZ is online while I take a census, the date in the SavedVaribales.lua under his name is updated to the correct date. So there are two different dates saved when you take a census. The date for the player activity ratio ("TimesPlus") lies one day in the past (e.g. 2005-04-25) and the dates for the individual characters are correct (e.g. 2005-04-26). I don't think this is right. Or is it supposed to work that way?

Hrmm... I'll do some testing and see what I can come up with.

Basically the SERVER date is going to match your local date most of the time. The only time it won't is the 1 hour in which you are on the next date (just after midnight for you). The results in your submitted file seem to indicate that there is a problem so I'll see what I can come up with.

I really need to get someone to buy me an EU version of the game, so I can test some of this stuff, hehe.

i can't imagine i'm the only one experiencing this, but since 2.0, the social window just keeps popping up instead of closing, as far as i am concerned it was better in the previous release (open-close), right now it looks like i have to complete opposite behavior, it's always open :)
i eventually got it once or twice to work the way you stated above, but after dozens of times closing the window manually.

Yes, I also experienced this. But I think I know what the problem ist. Make sure you have the "Who"-Tab selected in the social window (not guild, etc.). Then it works and the window doesn't pop up. Otherwise it does indeed pop up all the time.

Now that I know how to reproduce this, I can hopefully fix it.

Possible Conflict

Post by Zahn »

I've noticed a slight conflict with another mod I've been running. The mod is GuildOrganizer ( http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=23 ). I open up the GO (which doesn't use the standard /who window), and then close it. The next time that Census+ fires off the /who window opens up at the Guild tab, and won't autoclose, though the process will still continue running. If I then click on the Who tab at the bottom and manually close the window, the autoclose function will work fine from then on.

I don't know if the conflict is your side or their side. I just thought I'd let you both know. Other than this (admittedly minor) issue, I love the new version.

I found the problem. It's a side effect that Blizz does things a little differently if you have selected the Guild tab. I have it fixed locally and it will be fixed in the next available release, which should be soon.

Oh, excellent. This is exactly what was going on with me. I'm glad that you've fixed it, and thanks to the above guest for telling me why. :)

switch to the who-window and close it.
and it wont pop up again.
