Quite possibly the worst day of my life

Post by Rollie »

So last Thursday my 18 month old daughter started throwing up considerably. She was very fussy and just not a happy lil girl. Come to find out, she's got a nasty stomach virus which is suppose to be over in a week or so.

Generally speaking, I've been a very healthy person. I've only ever really been sick once, other than colds and such, and as such, I wasn't too worried about catching whatever my daughter has.

Fast forward to last night. Around 3 AM my wife is feeling pretty ill and is up vomiting and such. At this point I still feel fine. I wake up this morning feeling a bit wierd, but fairly normal.

WIth the wife and daughter both sick, I stay home to help out. Around 1PM it starts hitting me. Stomach in knots, nausea, other unsavory things. By 3, I'm crippled. I've never felt this bad before in all my life. It's like having the worst hangover ever, times about 100.

So here in my household, we have an 18 month old girl who's still not 100%, but generally happy and 2 very sick parents trying their best to trade off taking care of her.

Even now, I'm feeling quite nasty. I thought maybe I could get online for a few minutes to divert my attention to my aching stomach and body.

We have a doctor appointment in the morning for the baby and I hope we feel better by then just so it's not such a horrible experience getting out of the house.

Don't mean to whine, but omg, I've never felt like this before. It's horrible!

Stomach viruses are no fun!

Thankfully, I have been blessed with reasonably good health. Getting a nasty virus when you rarely have problems makes it that much more painful.

I picked up something from drinking bad water on a hiking trip, even though we followed all the rules. I didn't throw up, but did spend the first few nights with the shakes and major hot and cold flashes, then the next couple of weeks living on the toilet. I haven't been the same since and can't imagine having to try and take care of a baby at the same time.

I hope you all get better soon!

Well, thankfully we're all feeling much better today. Very happy about that! Oof, I've never felt so horrid and hope it's a long time before this kind of thing hits again! Doctor said it was likely Rotavirus and will pass in a few days.

Thanks for the kind words =)

Good to hear this. I'm glad that everyone is better now. Stomach virus is a horrible thing, especially when it's affecting the people you love.

Actually, you aren't alone.

It would appear that this year's flu virus (even with a flu shot) is hitting people hard. I had to stay home from school today because I had a 100 F degree+ fever today (oh, I'm very sad about it too. ).

Ah well, hope you feel better. 8)

My sentiments exactly. Reiterates my video from a while back.
