Getting error message

Post by Tristesse »

Seems like my data isn't being uploaded. The message I get is that I may not have the most recent version of the mod and therefore my data won't be read. Since I just downloaded the most recent version of the mod today this has to be an error.

I uploaded the proper file as well so it's not that. What should I do? I also downloaded the mod again to make sure.

Did you exit the game before uploading?

When you open the Mod in game, what version number is displayed in the upper left corner?

I see what the problem is but don't know how to fix it. When I upload and browse to find the file I only can find where it says ...../SavedVariables.lua. It doesn't have the CensusPlus.lua at the end. I tried redownloading the mod but it's still the same. Not quite sure how to get that last part on there.

Can you get to this directory:
C:/Program Files/World of Warcraft/WTF/Accounts/XXX/SavedVariables/
?

If so there are 2 files that have the name CensusPlus. One of them is CensusPlus.lua.bak and the other is CensusPlus.lua

In most cases you should be able to see the .bak at the end of one of the files. While the other one may not show you anything but CensusPlus.
The reason you can't see the .lua is because Windows is hiding the extension for known files. This is an option you can turn off in Windows Explorer/My Computer.
To turn it off open up Windows Explorer or My Computer
Tools -> Folder Options
View Tab
Scroll down and uncheck the box for Hide extension for known file types.

Now you should be able to see the .lua at the end of all your files. As well as the .extension for every file on your computer. (like .exe, .dll, .txt, etc...)

Another thing you can do is simply copy and paste the following and just change the XXXX to your account name as it appears in the World of Warcraft directory:

C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\XXXX\SavedVariables\CensusPlus.lua
This should work without having to change anything in Windows Explorer.
