People Quitting WoW

Post by Hybuir »

I was thinking and apart from my best friend, I don't know one RL person that still plays wow. Is this an isolated incident? I had heard that a bunch of people dropped but just realized the impact on me.

The people that I know irl that play WoW quit for a few months only to concentrate on school but have since started back. But on the Silvermoon forums there are many people who have quit the game because they got bored of the farming. Also see people on other boards as well like the Customer Service Forums and General Forums.

You can still continue to post on the WoW forums when your account is inactive so those that quit still post often, so they haven't really left the game :p

I've seen many post on the General Forums calling wow the new Everquest or World of Starcraft or something like that because of all the farming that you need to do.

I hear of people leaving, although I'm not seeing it in my own guild, at least... what I am seeing is lots of in-guild tension and people leaving the guild however, which is probably partly related to frutration with how the game is turning out... constant farming is kinda boring after a while. I know I'm pretty bored unless I'm teaming up with friends for stuff, and as I've gone from all my friends being in one guild to split across three guilds, that's a bit harder to manage than it used to be.

Several people in my guild have quit the game and I am really considering on taking a break. As you can see I haven't been uploading any Census data. =/ It is really hard for me to log in the game anymore.

The only thing there is to do is arenas and bgs. I need to farm up 88k honor to get what I want and I just don't know if I can do that. Farm farm farm!

This content patch is really underwhelming. I checked out the new content on test and it is just more farming and rep grinds. When will the developers realize that we are sick of grinding 15 reputations up to exalted to get nice gear.

I understand there should be a time commitment in order to get nicer gear, but it is getting really ridiculous.

I have been playing Puzzlequest for my Nintendo DS. It has been much more fun than WoW lol I can play for 20 minutes and actually do something worthwhile. =D

Ah, Puzzle Quest. =) I like it, but I wish the computer didn't punish me so hard. It's always setting itself up for amazing cascades and four-in-a-row and red skulls, I swear it does it to spite me.

I just dont knw what i'd fill my free time with if I didn't play wow. I've been going to the gym 4 times a week for about 2 hours each day. I got DVR so i can record all the shows I miss when I'm away, so I usually catch up during the first 8-10 hours on saturday if I dont get time to see them during the week. that would still leave about 24 hours a week :-s

I stopped playing really for a couple month to concentrate on finishing up school and now that I am done for some reason the desire to return back to the game hasn't been all the strong...it might be that I am still very busy with other RL things such as finding a new job, etc.

lmao I know exactly what you mean. The computer tells you to do a certain move if you haven't decided one and I have found that if you do that move the computer will get 5 in a row and 4 red skulls to match. The AI shouldn't know what is going to fall. hehe That is the only flaw with that game!

We lost a guild member today. She was a pretty good Huntress and made me laugh at times. But I understand why she did it. The game was consuming her and the became her addiction.

Maxey where ever you are I salute you.

Hehe yep, taking a small break myself, let my sub run out last night and right now I'm missing my friends but happy to be doing other stuff for a few days ;)

I'll no doubt be back at the weekend, but meanwhile a break is a good thing - I've been finding myself getting bored more and more often; there's some things I do want to do, but I tend to not feel much like doing anything unless I'm at the very least chatting to friends, or preferably grouping with them... used to be I was happy soloing as well but that seems to be dying off for me, at least to the extent I used to play. Maybe not surprising, I've played a heck of a lot over the last 2 years!

Yeah, I can definitely understand that Balgair. Friends are what keep me playing this game... without them, I'd be pretty bored, that's for sure :P

I don't have anything other then anecdotal evidence, but I'm seeing the same thing. In my guild, in other guilds, in communities I frequent, everywhere.

It seems to me like the game is back at the same point it was before BC came out. All you can do is raid, grind PvP, grind rep, or level alts.

So the crowd that isn't hardcore raiders and has become sick of grinding (and already has seven alts) simply has nothing left to do, because all Blizzard caters to is raiding and honor/rep grinding. This patch is a great example. The actual meat of it (Black Temple) is only open to the top handful of guilds. Its the same tiny minority that actualy did Naxx.

The other group is just getting bored with the lack of stuff for them to do, and are dropping out one by one. You tend to see it in groups, because when a couple of friends go, its easy to go with them. (Personally I took four people to Lord of the Rings Online with me.)

Sounds about right to me, I don't like raiding, have too many alts already, and I'm just getting bored frankly. I love levelling, discovering new places, doing new quests... but I've done it all too many times :?

Not really sure what can be done to improve it though, adding more rep grinds doesn't cut it, but there's not a lot of other options open, as I guess new zones take time to develop. There's meant to be some new quests coming in 2.1 which may help... but then seeing as they don't have any rewards that benefit my mains I won't have much motivation to do them, plus once they're done I'm back where I am now.

hm just started my 10th char, a Blood Elf Rogue :) already lvl 15.

it's the first time i'm playing in the new zones, and it's quite funny. Cool quests (like disabling 3 mana-things..) an cool rewards from "tristessa"-faction 8)

I quit for a few months, but have since come back. I'm glad I quit for a while it's nice to get away from the game for a while. I think some people that quit will eventually come back unless they find a different game to play.

My co-worker leveled quickly to 60 on a PvP server, then quit entirely for several months. I guess the fact that I played made him decide to pick it up again. He reactivated his account, realized he was way behind his guildmates and dropped a bunch of cash on buying gold so he could purchase the next rank of Backstab.

He was still frustrated at what he'd missed, so next he bought a purpled-out rogue off Ebay. Within a short time, he began to be wracked by guilt at buying gold and accounts, so he sharded everything on the bought character and deleted it.

Then BC came out. He leveled his original 60 to 70 in just a few days and began raiding.

Where is he now? Well, he cancelled his account again a month ago and I'm trying not to talk about WoW to him for his own sanity. He's concentrating on his guitar and soccer.

But I bet he'll be back...
