submission question

Post by Forestlordx »

I just checked the census for Firetree and got this message

"There are too few Alliance and Horde entries for this realm to give reliable results! Please help today by submitting data for this realm! Find out more about how to help".

The latest submission though is dated today. How many submissions are needed to give acurate data for a realm?

The more submissions, the more accuracy. ~100 snapshots per month should give a pretty good indicator. A snapshot is defined as 1 Census run, and you will likely have several per night if you have it set on Auto-Census.

If you have the mod set to run all the time when your online at the default interval time (30mins) then that counts as 1 entry. The number of entries does not mean the amount of people who submit data, it just means the number of times CensusPlus completed a scan on the realm.

As for the colors on what is bad, ok, and good:
0-50 = Red
50-100 = Yellow
100+ = Green

So, to do the math:

If you play 2+ hours a night, you should get through 4 scans with the default settings.

4 scans x 30 days = 120 entries per month.

That's really not a lot!

Yeah, which is why it's hard to get a server out of the red by multicensusing unless you have a separate account to do it from ;) It definitely helps to get other people on board, that's for sure.

I see the average submissions a day is about 350 for horde, and alliance. With millions of players you would think at least this site would be getting 40-50 submissions per server every night with no problems.

I personally think this site is great. Just the other day I looked up the char histories of my past 60's to see what pace I am leveling at compared to them. It is very interesting to see I am on track to probably hit 70 within 2 months RL time compared with 60 with my other chars. My coworkers (who told me they played alot) I checked their char histories.....6 months to 60....Evan Almighty did they play on rested the whole time???? I swear most people need to understand what playing alot means.

I like playing on rested, it makes me feel fast :P I just would level a char til rested ran out, then play an alt until that rested was gone, then play another alt until that rested was gone, etc. Of course I'm also married and so while I have quite a few playtime hours under my belt, I have other things that also occupy my time ;)

Not that there's anything wrong with getting to 70 fast, but I liked to take my time, enjoy some pvp while at the top of the bracket (level 39 and 49 are the best pvp brackets imo) and some characters I tried to only level with my RL friends that play the game. One of these days I should see how fast I can get a character to 70 without getting distracted, but I dunno if I'll ever get bored enough to make it happen

Fastest I've got to 70 was my priest in 2 months, but the first 10 days of that I was levelling my rogue from 60-70, and after my priest got 60 I slowed right down to keep pace with a friend, otherwise I'd have done it faster I think. Right now I'm on a lvl 50 warlock that's about 6 weeks old, but I keep getting distracted by my other characters, plus he lost a week or so to being stuck at 20 as it was a trial account to begin with ;)

You would think so, but it is not uncommon for a couple of individuals be solely responsible for coverage for their faction/server. I'm not really sure how to get more people using/submitting. It seems like it's either something you're interested in doing, or not.

It always helps when you guys post in your server forums and such for help. I've seen such posts be fairly successful in helping cover servers before.

How much does it affect your connection and gameplay with census running while you are playing?

Not at all. Assuming you aren't running cartographer and have your guild pane popping up all the time =/

Really gotta figure out a fix for that.

I haven't used census in a while. The latest version I have is when TBC first came out...is there a newer version I should be using?

I'm running cartographer and haven't seen that problem.

Granted, I don't census alot when I'm actually playing, but I have run it recently on at least two characters that are guilded. The only popups of any kind I have seen is a rare popup of my pet window when I'm on my hunter which tends to only happen when I'm cruising along on my mount and click on something that causes an immediate dismount. If I stop first, I don't believe I have ever had the box pop up.

My wife used to have the pet bar issue on her hunter(I have not had that happen to me yet), and installing the petbar fix from http://wowui.incgamers.com/ui.php?id=3876 seems to have resolved the issue for her so far.

I have a census running the entire time I play pretty much, and aside from the 2 second pause I get if I actually open the censusplus GUI, it hasn't affected my gameplay at all. And since I can go the whole night playing and not open the GUI, it hasn't bothered me one bit ;)

Actually in regards to the popup... I attended kara, and i have my timer set to 2 min (my lil secret to finding those bank alts in the morning that pop on) and it popped on... it was post fight.. but i'll start trying to isolate the mods... deadly boss, chatmod, natur bars, ct, wardrobe, mobhealth :-s minimalistic.
