Cruel or Fun

Post by Hybuir »

I found my newest hobby, reporting people for selling their accounts. I mean, these people, apart from violating the TOS, don't want to play, are giving (for the most part) unskilled players great gear, displacing regular people that aren't cheaters. Now don't get me wrong, I do this not to fight for the man, but out of spite. I'm not that well geared, but I do an honest day's grind and hope that someday I'll be in that top 15% of geared players on my server & faction. Out of jelousy i go and google

Code: Select all

site:craigslist.org WHATEVERSERVER "wowarmory"
to find the idiots that actually put in their wowarmory profile links on their ads. I copy their names, server, and craigslist link and submit it to blizzard to handle. Nothing like a little vigelante justice to get my blood running before the raid.

(since you are not affiliated with Blizzard, their disclaimers don't thwart your efforts)

Is this cruel?

Well you don't know how many of those craigslist listings are real. What happens if I get pissed because you beat me 1v1, and than I link your wowarmory on an acct for sale posting on craigslist, and than someone reports it. You don't even have to have an acct on craigslist to post stuff. I think you are going overboard.

I don't see you not supporting this site which has non stop powerleveling, goldbuying, account buying/selling , ebaying ads every page. How do you think this site stays up, and running, and affords to give away stuff each month. Someone is clicking and buying stuff.

I think most people are smart enough to not list their wowarmory profiles. You could be reporting innocent people who than have to be harassed by Blizzard, and spend a week or so trying to get their acct back.

If it really bothers you that much, than you should stop supporting it, by not coming to this site any longer.

Actually talked to a friend of mine since Austin has a GM hub, he says that it doesn't come anywhere close to sealing the deal but it does help out in flagging the account. It goes through a long process that checks the login IPs, password, and personal info. I don't seal the nail on their coffin but I do help out.

I won't report someone unless they are directly affecting me or a group I am in. I won't be Blizzard's tattletale squad.

i agree
but i have been in a group with people who had to have bought their toons or power leveled. they had no clue on tanking/cc or whatever. i also blame people who run new players through an instance with a high level toon. what does that teach them? not a damn thing. earn it like the rest of us

Hmmm... is it cruel or not...

I say it is not

I myself will report people selling accounts, however I do not go the lengths of google'ing accounts being sold. I tend to stick to the in game moron using the trade channel to sell there toon. Those guys are reported just because if there stupid enough to use in game chat, then there too dumb to own a WoW account.

Well. I don't agree with people buying acct's. But it is wrong to SNITCH on people. So I would never dream of doing it. I wouldn't report people for selling accts. Because it's none of our damn business.

Wrong to do some vigilante justice? some guy ninjas items in instances, drops your run when the item he wants doesn't drop, farms the crap out of some mobs that you need for genuine quests and turns around and sells it to some nub? That isn't wrong? Then the nub comes back, changes his name, gets in your run, and keeps on wiping your 5 man. That doesn't bug you? Overgeared and under skilled, and a couple of hundred dollars lighter; but it's totally ok with you...?
