Bug in 2.4.2 with < 3 chars

Post by DM. »

If less than 3 chars are found it displays how many it found in the chat window.

For example
3 players found

Is all that will be displayed when it finds 3 players during its scan. Their names will not be displayed tho. Just the result from the who query.

I disabled Prat and it still shows so it has nothing to do with it.

And just for anyone else reading... This is on the US English Client :P

http://www.warcraftrealms.com/censusmod ... -4.1.7.zip

Something must have changed with the string matching functions. Nothing was ever made mention of it, but this version should work correctly now.

Need someone to be sure to test out the French/German/Spanish clients as well!

Updated to new version but...

"2 players total" just appeared in my chat window a couple of times.

EU English client, verbose off, autorun on.

Hrm... but it did not get stuck trying over and over again at least? If it is just incorrectly displaying how many found, then it is a bit of a different issue, but still related.

I never had mine stuck in an endless loop. It would always continue the scan as normal. But just whenever it hit 3 or less chars it displays the number found in the chat window.

I haven't tried 4.1.7 just yet. I'll check it out 'soon' and see if the problem is fixed or not.

It never seemed to get stuck for me even before I updated (granted I only played for half an hour or so earlier before I updated), I'm just getting the same as DM describes.

It looks like this:

I actually stopped the scan as soon as I saw it in chat. There were only 2 lvl 70 Troll Hunters and 2 lvl 70 Troll Warriors online and since the queries are done back to back the result is what you see in chat.

I did a verbose scan immediately after and I saw exactly what it was scanning at the time since I saw the names of the 2 chars from each query displayed in chat.

The same with the german client, updated version of census+ (4.1.7).
Whenever queries find 2 or 3 characters, this is stated as above.

Maybe just a display bug, hopefully not a sign for more inconvenience ;)

PS: I believe I found a reason for this now. I tested by typing who queries with substrings, for example "/who las".
Whenever 1-3 characters are found these are displayed in the chat window together with a summary like "# Spieler gefunden". At 4 and more characters found, the who window is opened and characters are listed there.

Yeah, it's not matching to completely hide those results for some reason. I'll keep working on it, but at least now it won't get stuck in an endless loop.

WTB more trolls - them and orc rogues are the only ones that come up as < than 3, haha ;)

To tell the truth, I hadn't even noticed the string that much, since I always run verbose on and so I'm used to things being all up in my chat window o_O Also, mine never got stuck in an infinite loop anyway, because that I would have noticed :P At least it's fixed for those who were getting stuck. :)

Hm ... new with 2.4.2 is, that output in the chat window is indented now, so if an output consists of 2 or more lines, 3 leading spaces (and maybe a carriage return?) are added to the second and following.

Hrm... perhaps that is the culprit. I have prat installed and I did not see any change in the output. I'll have to pay better attention during my testing tomorrow!
