I xferred a 51 shammy from my old account to my new one and I have totally forgot how to level. I'm pretty set in 1-20 (I love Brill/Sepulcher), but apart from there I get stagnant.
A friend just told me about a guide but don't know if you guys could recommend any tips/tricks, past experiences, or a "get on your main and farm badges noob" y'know, words of extreme encouragement.
Alt Love
I just find someplace with fun quests, do them and ta-da, I've levelled
51 sounds like Ungoro time - if you like Dino-land go and quest there some, if not, Western Plaguelands and Felwood are good alternatives - top end of Hinterlands too if you're horde (if it's an old char you probably never did Jintha Alor while it was still elite - it's now non-elite and the rewards are still awesome
)

I am at 50 with my druid alt, and I just finished about 15 easy quests in Hinterlands at Revantusk Village. Mostly all kill quests which is refreshing. My next stop is probably Ungoro, Blasted Lands, and Burning Steppes.
Oh, and Hybuir is so right....it has been a nice change to do all these quests I have skipped the last year because they used to be elites, but Blizz made all the below level 60 quest mobs non elites now to help leveling I guess since you can't find anyone to group these days. Most still have nice blue drops.

Are you elemental or enhancement for leveling?
If you're enhancement, you can armory my shaman (which just hit 70 like 2 weeks ago) to see my spec (which is kind of a mix between pve and pvp since currently I'm doing both, although once I have my S2 weapons from honor I'll probably go full pve.) In terms of gear, itemizing once you hit outlands is a little easier - you'll want to gear in some version of str > AP > crit > agi > hit > stam > int. Don't itemize for mana/5 when you can help it, with shamanistic rage and water shield it's virtually useless compared to how many itemization points it takes. Once you hit outlands you're going to want to push your crit to at least 20% to keep up unleashed rage and flurry most of the time, then stack str/AP. +hit is useful, but as long as you have the 9% to hit from talents your specials (windfury/stormstrike) will be hit capped, so there's no point in going completely overboard with +hit... no point in hitting if you do the damage of a wet noodle.
Also, I can't emphasize this enough - you'll want slow weapons in Main Hand and Off Hand. That means NO daggers. 2.6 is probably considered the best speed, but don't go faster than 2.4 if you can help it. Ideally your MH and OH are the same speed (to force WF to proc on your MH rather than your OH for better damage), but as long as they're both slow you'll still do good damage. Fast weapons are absolutely awful for windfury damage, and WF/WF is still much much better than any other alternative.
Oh, and become very good friends with omen (although since you play an spriest I imagine that's already the case) and a tank with good TPS since you'll need it
Of course if you're elemental, then all that is moot, in which case I'll ask my cousin who has a T5ish geared ele shaman for some tips.

If you're elemental you can armory Buinne on Draenor (europe) for some levelling spec clues - that's my 60 ele shammy, can't say I'm any kind of expert but it's fun anyway and I don't get owned too badly (adds are a pain though; thank goodness for stoneclaw totem!)
Go for as much spelldamage as you can get hold of; levelling in Azeroth was great once I had some decent damage gear, and it's going alright in HFP so far as well; my next target is to boost my crit while maintaining my spelldmg

Yeah, it gets a lot better once you get water shield, believe me. Also, once you get your crit rate above 20% or so you'll pretty much always have focused up so your mana will go a lot further. However, I gotta tell you that if you want to pvp with your shammy, elemental's probably the way to go. At least until you get a very good set of gear, anyway... elemental's easier to pull off in crappy gear than enhancement is, that's for sure.Hybuir wrote:I'm going enhancement... I've read up on the theorycrafting from ElitistJerks. I'm going to be a pvp shammy... maybe... probably... dunno. Anyways. I'm almsot lvl 53, and liking the burst damage. Only draw back is that mana goes quick
PS Just got me the belt of the black eagle made tonight, and the midnight legguards from H SP... pretty sweet
