I think my cousin preordered the game, so I'm gonna try it out using his account once he gets ahold of it. That way it's free! (well, for me at least.)

They retracted the last email I got. The release date has been only bumped up to 9/17/08 which makes sense since all new PC games come out on Wednesday's.

The email I got says the preview weekend starts tomorrow.
Greetings!

It is our pleasure to invite you to the Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Preview Weekend taking place this Friday, August 22nd thru Monday, August 25th. Join thousands of your fellow players and experience the Age of Reckoning for the first time as you adventure through two tiers of content across three campaigns.

This is an invite-only event, so don't delay in preparing for WAR and be one of the first to engage in the thrill and glory of RvR combat before the rest of the world!
Then another email said open beta starts September 7th. Their newsletter said that the NDA has been lifted too, so look for a lot more information on the web.

Well I am in the preview weekend and am very pleased with everything. I am still figuring out how to play my class, but it is a lot of fun. :D

The UI customization is absolutely amazing.

I'm glad to hear about that - after getting used to WoW's customization possibilities, I found MMOs without it to be painful to play. I've heard more good things about it, so I'll probably borrow it from my cousin once he gets it.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

TTK (Time To Kill) is intentionally higher than in WoW, the fights are meant to last longer and actually give you time to react. To me this is a good thing but if you expect combat to be as fast paced as WoW you're likely to be disappointed.

UI responsiveness is still not as good as WoW, there has been significant improvements (and with those a few new bugs that are being sorted...) but expect this to be something that is still being polished at release. This IMO was the last major thing that kept them from dropping the NDA...

The game is definately ready for release but could IMO have been more ready, I understand the urgency to release it and I'll enjoy playing it. I think this might be the first MMO I've played that actually has an end-game at release ;)

What are the system requirements for Warhammer? I'm worried my graphics card and RAM may not cut it. :(
