0 new, 0 updated, anyone else getting the same?
Actually I did find a couple of things. There were a couple of individuals who had decided it was a good idea to try to spider and mirror the entire site. Needless to say that puts a ton of undue strain on the database and was really hosing things up. Once I got ahold of it and banned those IPs, everything has been running smoothly again.

Yes Rollie the database is doing great now. Updates are taking from 1 hour to 3 hours which is very good.
ER do not let such minor problem get you upset. Your are getting over a 99% none error rate and that is super high. When you start working will find an error rate that tiny is amazing.

Hello!
Well... Yes, it could be worse... but... there has been yet another failure...
Feb 23, 09 16:48:59 0 0 Y
.. has also gone wrong... Losing about 10 MB of data in about 3 hours is bad. EU side is already (much) weaker than the US. Almost all of both top 10 all time and monthly submission makers are from the US.
And since I run a lot of censuses... even 1% failure rate causes a lot of data loss.
I hope today's submissions work correctly...
And as for working... when I still had a job... 1% failure rate would have caused the company I worked for a yearly loss of about 1 MILLION euros... which would have been enough to pay my salary for... counts... approximately 69 years, if the currency value would not change much...

Strongly believe your uploads are too large and casing the problem.
Purge before each census taking pass you make to keep the file size small. Server will handle a 1 to 3 mb upload a lot better than 10+. It will also make the server faster processing.
Or if you played the game do this /census serverprune when on your main server. Then head out to other server and do a census pass and upload. Then repeat on each time you do a census pass.
I am not an expert to this addon but over 26 years exp with computer databases, programming and consulting.
Off the topic but praises to rollie for years of great work in Census+. And for finding the site slow down problem. You have to think the sites are doing that to damage census+ to promote their addon.

Thanks!
Then some notes... the files that went wrong yesterday were all in the 2,5 to 3,5 Mb range. And I am not even theoretically able to go over 10 as I do not use uniuploader. Additionally, the files that I submitted today morning were actually slightly larger and they thankfully processed without further mishaps.
And I do complete purges a couple of times a week + I regularly go down to as short as /censusplus prune 2 or even 1. I prefer that to using serverprune... mostly, because I regularly play on more than one server and prefer to have at least a little bit of data available to me most of the time. Additionally, that policy has saved some data on more than one occasions already... Most likely including minor bits from yesterday.
Actually, I have occasionally wished that I had a way of doing /censusplus prune x hours, which would prune all data older than x hours. But as that would be useless to most people, I do not think such a mode is worth the trouble.
On topic Rollie, yes, he does great work. And being able to see character histories here has already helped me several times.
I just wish that I had discovered this site even sooner. I started playing in April last year, but found this place only a couple of a days before deciding to register in early November.

From the files uploaded on the 23rd, I checked the 3 files that returned 0 updates, and they are all the exact same file as the prior one that generated updates. So that is why those are 0. So for whatever reason, the file you were uploading was unchanged from the previous upload.

Hi Rollie!
Thanks for looking into that! I am still investigating something related, but at the moment it seems that the files were duplicates because it appears that under some circumstances the Lua does NOT get modified when a characters exits.
Also, as far I can tell from my observations so far, the problem is not related to censusplus, but is caused by something going wrong with WoW.
If you have the time, could you please check, if the 0 0 Y from Mar 12, 09 17:33:44 is also a duplicate of Mar 12, 09 14:49:32? Thank you!

Hello Rollie!
Yes, I know.
However, I (and a few other people at least in EU) are currently suffering from sudden blackscreen crashes.
That is, we get no warning whatsoever, no errorlogs get written, the computer is stuck and monitor goes black, but the computer does not reboot (we have to manually cut power and restart).
And a side effect of these crashes appears to be that occasionally even a normal exit fails to correctly update the Lua.
I have already lost several MBs worth of census data due to the problem.
Currently, I am partially bypassing the problem by staying mostly alt tabbed out from WoW and letting the censuses run on the background.
I am currently trying to investigate the possibility of faulty/overheating graphics card as that and a WoW-related error are just about only things left as possible causes. At least for me the computer does not crash even under extended use as long as I do not play WoW...

If wow crashes the census data is not totally lost. The lost data is from the realm you are on at the time. Since each time you /camp or /exit the data is wrote to the HDD.
Now Northend does push a GPU temps a bit.. But I use Rivatuner and control the fan to lower temps. Here are links to Rivatuner and also how to setup the GPUs fan to work better.

http://www.vaguetech.com/index.php?pageid=rt207#fan
Now with the fan chnages I do not do the one that turns the PC off. And added a 4th temp range for when GPU is idle which for me card is 45c to 54c and run at cards default 30%.

Hello Dromic!
You are theoretically right... unfortunately... if the crash hits at the wrong moment, it does not just prevent writing, it PURGES the Lua.
Fortunately, this has only happened twice (so far). :/
I will take a closer look at the links you provided in a few minutes. Couple of notes however:
Crash can occur when I am sitting /AFK in the Orgrimmar bank, fighting Hogger in Elwynn Forest or browsing the AH in Booty Bay. So it is not related to Northend.
Secondly, my computer is a stock model Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo T. It does not even have a separate GPU fan. And... it was working perfectly until last Sunday. I went to bed, everything was as usual. On Monday morning, after less than two minutes of WoW, it crashed and has been crashing every now and then ever since.
EDIT: Well, thanks for trying to help. However, there is no customize button at all, where the instructions show one should appear. I can only assume that my computer is too old and/or limitedly equipped and therefore not compatible.
EDIT 16.3. : Well, well, well.. I am currently hoping that I got rid of my crash problem... The GPU did have a fan... it was just so well hidden that I had remove the graphics card to get to it and to get it cleaned...
