Is Warcraftrealms.com ready for MoP?
Seems overkill to me, only the very fastest people have actually levelled more than once so far, so 10 is way more than needed. And I tend to think lowbies powerlevelling quickly may expect to not be caught that many times on day one! I haven't even saved once yet, might start a new one in a bit, but since only 13 people are lvl 87 yet, I haven't really missed much, most who hit 86 will be seen

I am not going to pile hundreds of files.... unless the delay lasts weeks again. I'll probably end with about 3 to 4 files per day, which corresponds fairly well to my usual submission habits. The inability to upload just means my daily upload work will be delayed and start piling up.
The current leveling frenzy is so extreme that part of the data is already out of date by the time a single extensive census finishes (longest I recently ran lasted almost 57 minutes). I would not be able to compete with that even if I could instantly upload, which with larger .luas is not even remotely true.
I'll do what I can. How much results that will bring, will become clear to me once uploading and processing are again possible.
Good luck to all census users!

I'm much the same as you ER, I don't mind saving a few separate files, I just think Fuxie is seriously overdoing it with his 10 fiules in 4 hours lol, that's insane
If he wants to, that's his call, but I hope to heck he doesn't start complaining about how long it'll take to upload with 15 mins between each upload

I needed about 2 days last time, I think, Balgair.
And that's excellent news, Bringoutyourdead.
Means things should be ok shortly, because most of today is already gone.
Edit: Also... some factions are currently so massive that at Fuxie's pace... each file would be one faction only... I just finished one run on Silvermoon... runtime was one HOUR, 7 minutes and almost 4300 characters were observed.

Great news there, hopefully we'll have it running soon!
Omg at Silvermoon size, jeez, I'm taking 40 minutes to census 3.2k characters on my own realm, thought that was bad enough
Given how long my censuses are taking I'm reckoning a new file every 3-4 hours is plenty, less if I lvl up (I'm only 86 though so not powerlevelling like some are
)

As of right now, it's still night in the US, so Rollie is probably and hopefully getting a good night's sleep and the site remains as is at least some hours more.
On topic Silvermoon and other big factions. The thing is that one thing that Censusplus can't handle rapidly is the current flood of activity at the top. When the dust resettles, most characters will be level 90... But right now, we have an increasing number of 90s, 89s, 88ss, 87s and 86s... but the majority of 85s still remains in most places. Which in turn means that instead of one busy level, we currently have six.
I actually expect that at some point, census length might approach 1,5 hours on a very busy faction during peak times as the process breaks down to "letter level" on all level from 90 to 85.
Places like Outland are overflowing. I actually skipped doing a few specific censuses, because spending time in a 1800+ person queue is a waste of my time and results, when there are less overcrowded places to keep my eye on.
Edit: some minor typos removed.

I can well believe it about the times, I was up to almost an hour at the busiest time last night, only 3.6k or so people online, but so very spread out it took ages. Agree it's a waste of time trying to census the overflowing servers, spend an hour in queue then more than an hour running the census... there's got to be a point where it's no longer worth it lol. I'm too busy playing to jump on other servers much right now tbh, but when I do any censuses, queues mean I don't bother, unless it's below 100 in queue.

Okay I try to upload and get this message:
It appears you have submitted data from version 6.0.0 of CensusPlus. The latest version is 5.0.2. Please download the latest version and rerun CensusPlus. Your data will not be accepted unless submitted using the latest version of CensusPlus. You can get the latest version here
Anyone else getting this problem?

Just curious, I was looking at the comments about stockpiling and I'm wonder ing why that is done and if I should look at doing it.
Normally I let CP run while I'm on, these past few days maybe 12 hours worth a day. Is something getting dropped because i'm not flushing or changing the files ? I assume that is Billy earned 20 levels in that time it would all get captured. Is it losing something we care about ?
Personally I really only care about number of toons on the server that are semi active, so I purge my census every 30-40 days. What other reasons is there to worry about purging files and having 10 files to upload instead of 1 ?

Each file only contains the most recent sighting of a character, so if Billy gains 20 levels in the course of a week and you only upload once at the end of the week, your update will only contain the last level he was seen at and not any of the in between ones.
Personally, I think if somebody levels many times in one day, all it does it create unnecessary spam on their profile to show every one of those levels, so I'm not in the camp of starting a new file every 5 minutes. I am however creating a new file 2-3 times a day, to at least get relatively accurate ideas of how many levels a player gained each day.
Purging doesn't matter at all for data btw, that's just for clearing space when your file gets massive. I tend to use the /census prune X command to prune it to recent data instead of removing all data with a purge, although right now I'm starting with a fresh file each day anyway so it's not so relevant. once the uploads are working again I'll be back to pruning.

Thanks. So if I understand, all the multi-files do is capture that Billy went from level 10-40 in one day and captures that each step of it, the multifiles will show billy went 10,16,20,27,32,36 and 40 all in the same day versus just Billy was 10 on Monday and 40 on Tuesday. I guess I don't see the value in catching each step for the same day.
I said Purge, but I actually meant Prune/ I'm on a Low to sometimes medium pop server, I don't know that my file has every been more than 4-5MB. Other than it makes the mod stutter on open, it doesn't seem that bad. I image on large 50,000 toon servers it's much worse.

That's it exactly. I'm of a similar viewpoint to you on that one
If your file isn't too bad then what you're doing is fine. I prune more often because I often have many servers' worth of data (I'll often census other servers which don't have resident censusers) which stacks up to a pretty large file!

Um, so... have I been doing this wrong?
Instead of moving the file out and starting with a fresh one each time, I've been simply copying the SV file out, and letting Windows rename it (1), (2), etc, as I go. So my file is cumulative larger over the period. Assuming I upload them in the correct chronological order, that will still work fine, right?
