Displaying guilds that don't exist

Post by DaringJedi »

I noticed that the site displays guilds "within the past 30 days" that have not existed for months. An example can be found on Thunderhorn (http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php?serverid=86). The website states the guild "We PvE Like We PvP" is one of the top guilds based on level value. Just one problem: that guild no longer exists on Thunderhorn. It was renamed and then transferred off the realm (now on Emerald Dream) last year. Click on the guild name, even, and you get an error page.

It doesn't make the site look credible when it lists a guild near the top of its rankings when that guild hasn't existed for quite a while.

Just thought I'd point that out so it can be remedied. :)

Hello!

In many cases, already deleted / disbanded / transferred / renamed guilds still show up in places, because the site also tracks character histories and entirely removing the guild would apparently break the history of characters that still remain. Such a guild appearing in the top 50 does seem strange, though. Was that guild particularly big and active? If the answer to either or both is yes, there might be a "ghost in the machine", so to speak. :D

Unfortunately until Metalbeast gets his coding changes in place the Guild part of the website is very iffy. The website doesn't handle guilds correctly under the new connected realms setup.
