WoD beta

Post by FuxieDK »

Last week, WoD went into beta-stage.. The very same day, my account was flagged for beta-access (yay me)..

While we know that addons are not enabled yet, we also know that it will be enabled at some point..

When that happens, I'll ofc be available for testing/bugfixing the addon, so we can have a fully functional addon on release date..

Already mailed BOYD but me too, been enjoying the crashfest for the last couple of days ;) Certainly not anticipating addons being enabled until we have a few less DCs and servercrashes lol.

It took me two days to install beta, simply because I forgot to disable sleep mode on my PC.

Whenever I hadn't touched my mouse/keyboard for more than 30 minutes it went to sleep, regardless of my Internet connection was working overtime...

Anyway, it would be fun to know exactly what definition Blizzard use for "veteran players", since we all got access in the first wave...

I've been subbed non-stop since v2.2, with only a single account warning (in v3.0) which was removed after ~30 minues, because it wasn't aimed at me in the first place..

Most people I know of who got in seem to date back to 2006 or earlier; I'm March 2005 myself, with no more than a 2-3 week gap in sub at any point from September 2005. I usually have zero luck with random selections, so was pretty happy they focussed on veterans this time out ;)

Gotta say btw, Shadowmoon valley is amazing; I've barely done half the zone despite spending hours ingame; I just keep going and exploring everything, it's lovely! Karabor just blew me away, and Altar of Sha'tar was quite a contrast to the TBC version lol. Other than the map being the same shape and a few similar names, you wouldn't even know it was the same place, feels totally different, but I love it!

That was to be expected..

But with 3 betas already installed and operational, we're just waiting to get going.. You just say when you have a version we can test and we'll get right on it.

What is the chance that website will be ready on launch date? Stockpiling LUAs is annoying..
Or maybe, let us upload, but processing halted, if site isn't ready?

No new classes
no new races
web site is already set to handle search requests to level 100
No announced changes or discovered API changes to break the addon...

So unless something pops up, there shouldn't be a need to stockpile.
The trigger date will be when Blizzard rolls max level to 100.
and a multiple day grace period will allow people to upload their older census data.

There are a bunch of localization changes I want to make and I'll need people to help with translations using the curseforge site after I've fixed things.

We'll potentially be enabling addons in the beta within the next couple weeks. :)
Cool, hopefully Censusplus should work with minimal issues, shouldn't be too long by the sounds of that :) A little surprised, given I'm still getting random DCs and crashes (admittedly far fewer than at first), would've thought they'd want to stamp a few more of those out before allowing addons that can confuse the issues!

Interresting...

Wonder if v6.0 is closer than we realise?

I haven't had a single DC, but I don't spend much time on beta.. Maybe 2 hours total, so far..
Don't want to spoil the fun..

Doubt it's that close; at present, only three zones are available, all have some bugs and tuning issues, garrisons are broken more often than they work. Character models are very much in progress, nowhere near done, specs are very untuned (at least, I assume that's why my ele shaman has bigger heals than my disc priest...), and who knows what state the stuff that isn't open to us is in. Hopefully they can work some magic and get it out before the December deadline, but I really don't expect it to be much before it, maybe November if we're lucky!

As for spoiling the fun, I'd advise you to play and enjoy the Horde side now, else transfer yourself off Draenor before it hits. There is zero fun in being one of four thousand people all trying to do the same objective at the same time, trust me - I hate new expansion launches, I feel under so much pressure to speed through the early zones and get ahead of the crowd, else I get caught up in the madness and once you're stuck in the crowd, there's no fun to be had till it quietens down.

Just because there's no queues right now, doesn't mean it won't return to normal with the expansion, so I'm making the most of being able to explore at a nice relaxed pace on the beta! :)

Addons are enabled... but opps! the _G global table is still locked out.. so almost all addons will fail

and the current version isn't pretty.. since the background textures can't been accessed.

I expect in the next few weeks they really will enable addons.

I'm getting close to starting WoD CensusPlus testing.

I have EU and US testers. I would be willing to add an Oceanic tester.

Please PM me if you have WoD beta and are willing to have your WoW time
interrupted by incessant version changes and demands that you follow instructions EXACTLY.

p.s.
Please don't be upset if I choose someone else.. or end up not choosing anyone.

I don't know, if I count as EU or US..

I selected EU when I installed beta, but first update after that forced to jump through hoops (link: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic ... ?page=2#33) by changing region to US to be able to update..

Anyway, ready to test...
