World of Warcraft V7 US launch day impressions

Post by bringoutyourdead »

Well six hours after planned opening of realms.. most are up.
I expect many were up by two hours after.

Launch day had a typical final download .. don't remember the size as I stepped away from the computer when the download started.

Hours later I noticed at least one post launch same day download.. which incremented the build number.

My Alliance/Horde census hunters both got a notice for mail from
Yaw Sharpmane <Hunter> (Tauren starting zone trainer)
Don't know what the bull had to say.. I can't read the language.. more important my starter account can't open mail
I expect it might be notice of spec/talent restart
as the later Warlock character didn't get a mail notice.

A client error that I noticed with the last release still triggers an error pop up on the realm selection screen.
(click either arrow button on the side bar. then click it again. up pops the error.)
With this client the error persists on the screen into the character selection screen where it can finally be dismissed.

retrieving the realm list takes forever. with "Some Realms may currently be unavailable "pop up

Getting to a realm and then getting logged in is very slow.. I expect this is from the download storm Blizzard is currently experiencing and should go away.
On the other hand.. Beta's Disconnect issues have made it to live.. :(

New character Mal'Ganis Orc Warlock.
Org never did paint on my screen during the starting Cinematic, just the empty land it should have sat upon.

With Verbose on I saw the queries for 110, 101-109,
91-100 took multiple smaller retries as expected until it started getting usable data with 100-100.
This will go away as the player base shifts away from 100 towards 110.

Hey there are 12 Gnome Hunters!! I never saw any from that selection criteria in PTR.. far too few people in the PTR, if they could they were on Beta.

Blood Elf split with a Demon Hunter query and 0 found as expected.
Well that is it for me today.. I am going to let things settle down a day or two before I start census runs again.

Your hunters would've received a nice polearm in the mail in case you'd like to go Survival, which is now a melee spec, as of course hunters haven't used melee weapons for some time, it might just be useful to have one! :) A few other classes have received new weapons inc ase they want to play a spec that's changed its weapon type too, I believe.

My patchday experience has been logging every alt I own to collect transmog looks, I still have a full guildbank and about 700+ crates to open, so that'll keep me busy for a while, haven't even started on tracking down addon updates/replacements yet, so I won't be bored for a few days ;)
